I think I missed the point of this extra "round to be played in 1 state to whomever pays the AFL the most money".

Is it along the same lines as Indigenous round?
AFL: Look how good we are by having an Indigenous round - whilst racism and discrimination is still rife in the AFL.

AFL: Look how good we are having Magic round - whilst the competition still has a massive Victorian bias.

Seems all a bit "try hard" from the SA govt.

If it’s done right I think it’ll be great for the state.

Lightning Round?

Top of the hat to the old lightning carnivals, but they weren’t full games were they?
Anywhere from 5-10 minute quarters - most games done within an hour and the next game ready to go with teams sharing changerooms and bags piled up in corners

I loved that period of footy. 1984 I rode the wave to the flag, pissed most weeks mind you as a 15 year old, but that was a fun ride, that finals series was epic.

Placeholder … when I get home I’ll post a pic of the signatures i grabbed as a kid from that era!! (I was 12 in 1984)

My favourite player was Rocky Roberts. Had the number in the duffel coat and everything!

My family was close to the legs because my grandma’s brothers were Bill and Perc McCallum.

I grew up at the Parade watching my heroes each week sitting next to football royalty and not even knowing it. Ron Kneebone would give me insight on why Bruce Winter was so important to the team. The oldies all loved McIntosh the most, was so old school. My dad thought Keith Thomas was soft, but I loved his kicking.

Ahhh memories!!

Don’t think I would agree with your Dad Bald, but could have been conceived that way

I think it will get crowds, depending on the fixtures. Plenty of support for interstate clubs plus the novelty factor.

i can't see the biggest non us or port crowd being bigger than our smallest 2022 crowd. Presumably our games will be on different days and probably the first game so as to cash in on the 'hang around' crew, but I still reckon we'll struggle.

Frank: Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son. I reached for the last one they had, but so did another man. As I rained blows upon him, I realised there had to be another way.
Kramer: What happened to the doll?
Frank: It was destroyed. But out of that a new holiday was born. A Festivus for the rest of us.
Kramer: That must have been some kind of doll.
Frank: She was.

Yama hama, it’s fright night!

Let’s just say he loved the Panthers…. he really loved them..
