Doubtful, the two crappiest games each week are not ratings bonanzas but they networks still have to cover the costs of broadcasting them.

The lesser TV money would be offset by not having to prop up 4 basketcase clubs each and every year.

If you were starting an elite national competition there is no way you would have 10 clubs based in one state, its sheer lunacy to defend how the "AFL" is comprised.
Pretty sure tv want as many games as possible, they don’t seem to care about how many shitty games there are.

Or

Do what is bleeding obvious and have the National elite competition with 14 teams.

Result is the biggest spuds are removed and you haven't had to bastardize the game to 14 a side.

But this solution would take leadership, vision and the best outcome for the game. Whereas we know the AFL is only interested in whats best for the Victorian teams.

Who would be the unlucky 4 sides to drop out?

So Jackson has officially requested a trade back to WA. Just waiting for the media outrage........

Also...compare the pair:

Professional....

Amateur hour....
This is why we shouldn't offer more than a 2nd for him, they have been tanking his value with their petty bullshit talks about him
That would be a huge start to the silly season.
It would leave Port pretty unprepared if he did leave though, can't do a thorough search for a head coach in November after the draft. Everyone is already locked into Assistant contracts as well.

It has to be merge or move

Gold Coast is either gone or merged with a Melbourne club ie Saints/Kangas - the usual suspects

I think the starting point for any comp is who stays

Richmond, Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Melbourne* and Geelong would be safe
Brisbane , Adelaide, Port, Fremantle, West Coast and Sydney also

Thats 11

Gold Coast Kangaroos and GWSaints is 13

Melbourne Hawks or get rid of Gold Coast altogether and Merge Western Kangas

It's pretty obvious to me who the 14 teams would be

Adelaide
Port
West Coast
Freo
Brisbane
Sydney
Tasmania
Collingwood
Richmond
Carlton
Essendon
Hawthorn
Geelong
Melbourne?

The only question mark would be Melbourne as there is also the possibility of getting rid of Melbourne and relocating GWS to Canberra as the 14th team instead.

No crap practice matches and a 26 round season where everyone plays everyone home and away.

I think even Russian intelligence saw this one coming, since all the not very careful media leaks from the coterie groups the day after Rutten was first fired and then not fired.

Only club in the league that is a bigger basketcase than Adelaide.

Last week I saw Hird claim that the issues at Essendon during his tenure were the result of "two bad men", I am guessing he's referring to Dank and The Weapon (Dean Robinson).

The fact that 10 years later that Hird still refuses to accept any culpability for what happned shows that he's learned nothing and should never coach again.

The sad thing is that he'll most probably get the job and a large portion of their supporter base will be overjoyed about it.

Why doesn't Fox Footy have a red zone/goal rush equivalent for when there are multiple games on at once?

Saturday arvo, Saturday night, Sunday arvo... it's as though each game exists in its own individual bubble

They most probably don't want to compete against their own programming.

From memory Red Zone is a NFL Network program. The AFL most probably couldn't justify the money to do it.

Honestly I've always wondered, given the success of Trade Radio, why the AFL hasn't gone down the path of a more permanent radio station.

They just read out Hird's coaching record, it was pretty average, Essendon are just dumb

It defies belief how Essendumb supporters have been so quick to embrace Hird again.

That club is a special kind of stupid.

They may as well just go back to Sheedy.

Haven't won a final in 20 years under Sheedy and Hird among others

Essendon: "We need Sheedy and Hird back"

Could you imagine us bringing Trigg or Birdman back? This place would tear itself apart lol.

Not sure it would translate to AFL. More NFL games on at the same time.

But NFL Redzone is great to watch.

Hectic start to the week
