I see us outside the top 4 aspirants in Pies, GWS, Blues, Lions and Port. From there, we could finish anywhere from 5th to 12th or so. With TT not launching, the top end is eliminated, so I reckon we'll need a lot to go right to finish in the 8. But it's a pn open race and lots of moving parts, particularly the fixture, which I haven't looked at for us, let alone the competitors in our range.

I'm some what concerned by the triumphalism that has radiated from our club since the Sydney match. Feels like we deemed ourselves finalists in waiting. A celebration of a moral only achievement of Bazball like proportions.

Holding firm on our list, and achieving no meaningful improvement in the off season when we had significant injuries and finished outside the eight was certainly an interesting decision.

A lot turns on week one. Win, and the vibes might be good. Go up there and get embarrassed for the third straight year, putting us two games behind one of the other aspirants to enter the eight and well...

Yep, besides organic growth other teams have added players. Look at the Swans, we should have had their place but they’ve added Grundy and Adams, we’ve added Burgess.

Besides us pushing for a spot, Gold Coast, Bulldogs and Essendon I think will be fighting to come in.

Those at risk of dropping out Saints and Melbourne but that’s no given.
I’m thinking the saints are going to surprise and be better than expected

Looking at their list I reckon with the GC they have the best U24 talent in the comp

Names like Owens ( potential best player in comp long term) , King , NWM , Phillipou , Windhager , Marshall , Henry, Wilson

If only they didn’t have that hack Dougal Howard

Steele will also be back to his best this year post injury

Little sneaky for top 4 IMO

Just not sure they are. I’m excited by Fog, TT, Michaelanny, Rach, Rankine & Pedlar. Outside of that, we’ve got Tex and (maybe) Laird as A graders.
And Dawson

I think Rankine is the main one from our U25s that has elite best in comp for his position potential

Michaelanny also seems like a sure thing to be one of the best at what he does

Need others to raise a level and guys like Soligo Hinge Milera Jones to build off last year to a new level too

Also I’m expecting Worrell to break out, MCrouch to add some grunt and hopefully Berry

Positions 5-8 is a more than reasonable expectation. As with many of the other teams around the same mark, need a bit of luck, a bit to go right (injuries, winning the close ones etc.). But your best football is more than capable and you have the talent across the board to play finals.

A good test first up against GC away. Not the end of the world if you lose, provided it is a strong, competitive contest. Tis a long season ☺️ I don’t think they will lose too many there this year, so a win would be a fantastic start.

Effing hell, add Sog to my exciting list.

I think Worrell is another that will take a big step up
Agreed.

Reckon Worrell & Max will be the keys to our defence going the next level as they both read the play so well.

Reminds me of Smart & Hart.

Jeez, Nick Haynes looked solid last night. You guys could have had him and pick 7 ... just saying ;)

Good to see him back playing but looked a long way off his best.

That Taylor bloke goes OK.

Can Brown keep up this level of performance?

You guys are good to watch... even better when I picked you to beat the Pies.

Now can we finally beat the Pies...

I think we were all off our best last night ... lots of fumbles and poor kicks/handballs (according to the pies fans we played at our absolute best and a perfect game)

Brown is a hard match-up when you have Hogan, Riccardi, Greene and Cadman to watch as well. He's very fast and stong .. gonna breakout this year.

Please roll the pies ... break that sense of invulnerability they have

From the main board...also sent to my email via the Advertiser.

‘Footy greats have been accused of vile racism against North Melbourne’s Krakouer brothers in an explosive class action levelled against the AFL.
Essendon greats Kevin Sheedy, Terry Daniher, Roger Merrett and Bill Duckworth, as well as Carlton’s four-time premiership hero Wayne Johnston, are named in a bombshell Supreme Court statement of claim that was lodged against the league last Tuesday.

The document alleges the Krakouer brothers were called “petrol sniffers”, “a--s” and “n-----s” in the 1980s’

Link probably paywalled.

How is this claim not out of time, legally
