What those on the eastern states don't understand is that we have to live every day with these people.

I used to live literally on the same street as 'Fat Dan' in the middle there and he worked at our local Blockbuster (for younger posters, Blockbuster was like a Netflix store you could walk into).

Our Blockbuster password was Dockers and it was always amusing watching his face and his muttering under his breath every time we said it.

I'm happy with a wildcard round. More footy to watch in a bye round and bigger interest in finishing just outside the 8 where 9th is probably the worst finishing position in the league currently.

I mentioned in the MB thread that I like how Serie B does it for promotion play-off spots:

In Serie B teams 3-6 usually battle it out for the last promotion spot. Esentially, if the third place team is not more than 14 points clear of the fourth place team, then the teams from third place to eighth place enter a play-off to decide the final promotion spot. Otherwise, (I think) the third place team gets automatic promotion

I think you also have to be within a certain point threshold too. I like because it means if you are miles ahead, you don't have anything to worry about, however, if you are only a small amount ahead, then you activate the play-off scenario.

The league should do something similar, rather than always have it.

i.e. if 8th is 6 points above 9th then no play-offs. However, if the margin between 8th and 9th is 4 points or fewer, then play-off round mode is activated and any team within 6 points of 9th is eligible or something along those lines. It doesn't seem worth pursuing if there is a clear gap between 8th and 9th, however, if it's marginal then go for it. Doesn't have to be 6 points or whatever, but there needs to be a threshold for it to be activated and then again for entering the play-offs. Like if 8th and 9th are on the same points, but only separated by percentage, then 10th is 8 points behind then it should be between 8th and 9th.

Rioli Junior should be playing VFL reserves with that attitude. Not VFL, but the grade below. Didn’t want to take coach’s phone call after being subbed
Are we talking Junior Rioli at Port or Rioli junior at Richmond?
Just kidding.
It was very ordinary from Riolijunior on Sunday. I would think he would have had a good sit down with the selection committee on Monday morning to lay out the results of such happenings.
On Junior Rioli, the Port type, watching him play and listening to commentators rave about his skills and ability makes me laugh. If he was at South Fremantle during the days of Michael, Rioli and Vigona, he would be playing ressies. He has nowhere near the skils that Maurice or Benny had. Benny would just step his way around him and do whatever he wanted. A vastly over rated player is Junior.

Was at the Souths vs Claremont NAIDOC round the other week where there was a 1980 GF reunion……
Benny Vigona sporting a pony tail and understandably carrying some weight…and the big fella Basil Campbell also there speaking on stage about footy back in the 70’s and 80’s…
Ben Rioli interviewing the ‘Uncles’ on stage, great laughs, with TI and also a bit of Mal Brown thrown in to add some extra spice.
I reckon Maurice Junior could get around Basil, but he would need to take the long way around - loves a beer ‘Uncle Baz’ and you can tell….🤣

As much as I loathe Bin Chickens, I think it's bullshit that draftees can dictate where they go.
i mean you can say 'suck it up' or whatever all you want but if in a players heart they dont want to be somewhere, who benefits from keeping them? id say the eagles should probably trade the pick regardless but if they were confident in their culture and club that they could make him want to stay, then pick him, if it doesnt work out JHF is the precedence and you get 2 top 10 picks.

cry all you want about draft integrity or whatever but the reality is that players are human too, some dont want to live 1000kms away from their families

Nah **** that. It's a national competition, and a national draft. Players should not be allowed to dictate where they go. If they have problems living 1000kms away from family then this isn't the job for them. They need to be prepared to play on the other side of the country like all other interstate players do.

I don't think it is a case of Reid wanting to stay in Victoria. It is probably more the fact that he doesn't want to go to that absolute dumpster fire that is the blue and yellow cretins.
