lol - so last night it was, "medical report says that at 3qtr time he had a moderately sore temple but even though he never sought medical attention in the immediate aftermath of the incident you need to take the medical report as meaning something bad happen"

tonight, we get the following:

a few seconds ago
Pane argues that little weight should be given to Neale's evidence.
Pane describes Neale's evidence as "vague" and said it was focused on the aftermath of the incident.

Pane says: "Any contact to the eye region, no matter how slight, is inherently dangerous ... it is unreasonable and unnecessary."

Pane says that Neale was vulnerable and unable to protect himself.

Pane submits that you can see a "rake" up and over Neale's eyes, saying there was an immediate reaction from Neale as a result of the blow.

Loving the argument for Greene - he didn't make contract with Neale but if he did make contact then it was only at a careless level. Also, the contact that was made may have actually been made by De Boer (so he should be at the tribunal instead) and if there was any little bit of contact then surely it was only negligible.

Seems they are just trying to cover all basis in terms of explaining away contact to the face

Anderson says: "Even if you were satisfied that there was a little bit of contact, it would have been negligible."
Anderson says Neale appears as though he is feeling for his nose in the aftermath, looking for blood.

Anderson suggests it is possible Matt de Boer's right fist could make contact with the nose of Neale.

Anderson says the time in which Greene's hand is in front of Neale's face was "fleeting and quick".

Anderson says: "If I am wrong about that ... and there was some contact to the eye region, then it was careless."

Anderson says there is insufficient evidence that there is contact to the eye region.

Wow - so no one suspended in a final since the 2016 preliminary final, and now we have 2 players suspended for preliminary finals

I wonder how much of that is in response to the NRL giving a lengthy suspension last week to a player who was in line to play finals - meaning the AFL was forced to have a look at themselves and suspend players when they should be suspended

I dare say there's a little bit of "should have been suspended last week" to the decision tonight, no way he should have gone on that situation alone.
But in saying that, **** him, he's a dirty grub of a player and I hope he watches a close loss just to burn him even more (BTW I'd have him at the Cats in a heartbeat, yeah he's a campaigner of a bloke and a shittruck sniper with the most punchable raised chin in Australia, but he's a gun).

So GWS will likely appeal they say.

Why didn't we?
Seems we took it to the tribunal hoping to downgrade the charge to a fine and doing the right thing by a player in the finals

GWS & Greene are adamant that he's innocent and did nothing wrong - what would have happened had he tried playing guilty to misconduct with unnecessary contact to the face like last week's charge.

"The Giants had pleaded not guilty to the entirety of the charge, which was making 'unreasonable or unnecessary contact to the eye region' of Neale."

Just the afl getting the results they want

Nothing more to see and no point getting worked up

It’s a disgrace but it is what it is
Gee that's how it looks ...a corrupt process led by corrupt individuals. Covered by a corrupt AFL." no point getting worked up" Agree it is what it is. F$%ED

Good result..so much for conspiracy theories....

Doesn't disprove the theory the AFL want a Richmond-Collingwood grand final though. If anything, it only adds to it.

but selwoods eyes are not worth protecting

And people raised concerns that going to the tribunal could be distracting to Geelong & the players - what level of distraction could this be for GWS:

The GIANTS will appeal Toby Greene’s one-match suspension, which was upheld at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night.

Greene was charged by the Match Review Officer with making unreasonable or unnecessary contact to the eye region of Brisbane’s Lachie Neale following an incident in the second quarter of Saturday’s Semi-Final win.

The AFL Tribunal was held in Melbourne on Tuesday night with Greene appearing in person and pleading not guilty to the charge.

The GIANTS will lodge paperwork to appeal the decision by the deadline of 12pm tomorrow.

The GIANTS take on Collingwood in a Preliminary Final at the MCG on Saturday evening.

I don't think either cases would be that distracting to the respective teams. The rest of the clubs will be just getting on with the business at hand with recovery and training and probably not paying much attention to the media chatter. They're always dealing with players being in and out of sides, so business as usual in clubland.
