Not even sure he did run over the mark. If an umprie feels a player has done that why not drag him back an extra metre...but 50..when its so borderline ..seems extreme
Make yourself public enemy number one of the umpires.. pay the consequences

You have to be behind the 9m mark. Every players knows it. Harsh 50, but technically there for sure.
If you're inside the 9m line the ump will tell you once to come out (back to the 9).

If you're outside it and run in, they'll pay a 50m straight away. Happened against Melbourne last week too.

Did anyone else find it humorous that if Collingwood played Henry against Sydney (instead of Johnson) that they likely would have won the game?

Given their anemic forwardline and Johnson’s no-show they certainly could have used Ollie. I also get the sense that he wouldn’t have shied away from the moment. Between them Johnson, Mihochek, ginnivan, Elliot and cox had 29 possessions and kicked 4 goals. Stinky

Pies are goimg to get a massive dose of reality next year. Sure they have some pluck and fight but there are so many holes in their list and they are going to get players in like McStay who wouldn't improve North's attack.

Plus they will get all the good teams twice in the fixture. I think that is a worry for Freo as well. Easy to bounce, tough to maintain.

It’s pointless ..I guarantee that Cripps would easily give it up to be in the Grand Final , you’re only as good as your team allows you to be

Has any team ever had both the brownlow and coleman medal winner and not made the finals? (AFL era, probably happened when someone won both when non midfielders actually won the Brownlow at some point).

Due to Jobe's retroactive disqualification, Richmond hold this distinction from 2012. Cotchin a Brownlow medalist, Riewoldt the Coleman. They didn't make finals.

North sooking about the priority picks the AFL gave them. Can we interest you in a Menegola by any chance ;)

I'd be pissed as well, being forced to trade them for a player removes all their value. Someone is going to get a steal

GC got heaps more in a similar position.

McStay is an upgrade for their forwardline, but its very marginal. But McStay will have a bigger impact over a season than Cox would have.

All their youngsters will get a little bit better. I'm not sure about this claim, I'm expecting them to remain competitive and probably improve.

Overall they've got a pretty good list but they're in trouble if Pendles or Elliot fall off a cliff. I fear that cliff is basically here for Sidebottom already so one wing is an issue. They need De Goey to show more of the form he did in the first two finals and less the form he showed in the PF. Adams is essential to their cause to compliment Crisp - so he has to be on the park every game.

Mostly though they need an upgrade on Howe, or a really reliable second KPD so he can be third up. And they need forwards - McStay is a start but even then they feel another KPF short and Hoskin-Elliot needs a (consistent performer) replacement.

Top 4 isn't out of the question but 5th-8th feels more likely.

On another PF note, Brisbane might improve considerably next year... if they can get everything over the line.

* Adding Dunkley to their midfield strengthens up a bit of a weakness

* Getting Gunston (big if) could be huge for their forward line, at least for the next 2 years (would more than cover the loss of McStay)

* Add Ashcroft - whose been spoken about as this year's Daicos - and Fletcher (haven't heard much about him)

That's a pretty decent upgrade. That said, how they trade for Dunkley and still have enough points to bid for both F/S - especially if North man up this year and bid for Ashcroft - is beyond me right now.
