On another PF note, Brisbane might improve considerably next year... if they can get everything over the line.

That's a pretty decent upgrade. That said, how they trade for Dunkley and still have enough points to bid for both F/S - especially if North man up this year and bid for Ashcroft - is beyond me right now.
If North don't bid on Ashcroft they aren't being fair dinkum. Brisbane have committed to him already so they should pay what he's worth. That was the whole idea behind the bidding system after the clubs bleated about players going cheaply under F/S, Northern Academy, Next Gen rules.

Pretty confident Ashcroft would go number one in an uncompromised draft.

The only thing that should compromise the draft is father/sons everything else should **** off

Academies can stay but no bidding/matching

I see McLachlan is trying to lay the groundwork for a mid-season trade period.

Seriously, * off with this s**t. I cannot state enough how much I despise this idea. Leave mid-season trading to the big soccer leagues ffs. It has no place in the AFL.
Seeing people like Lobb and Jackson supposedly wanting out even 3 months ago just makes me wish we were more like NRL and allowed players to sign with another club a year in advance. Let’s you prepare for the future

I don’t know why the AFL has this knee jerk reaction to every little thing that happens …just stop changing things and let it ride unless in a consistent issue year in year out

Who cares what they change when we are top 4 most years. A bad year for us is finishing 6th

A few clubs passed over bidding on Daicos last year even though most people said he was the standout player.

I think some clubs may not be bothered knowing they are not going to get them anyway. And particularly with the number 1 pick last year it seems North wanted to make it seem like JHF was their number 1 man to pump him up a bit (doesn't seem to have helped as it seems he wants to leave already anyway). That said, Adelaide bid on Jamarra at no.1 the year before.

I honestly was in shock reading this, so horrific that you wish it isn’t true, Clarkson and Fagan and Burt will have a chance to reply but if even a fraction of it is true would see their legacy tarnished and they shouldn’t be anywhere near administration in the AFL

This is the story of the year, might be the biggest since the Essendon drug saga

What the actual ****.
That is one of the worst things I’ve read involving a football club.

After years without recruiting an Indigenous player, Clarko arrives and convinces the higher ups that these players can be assets...if they are herded in with the Good White Men, isolated from their kin and domesticated so that they are no longer wild animals.

Absolutely horrific. Premierships won this way have a poison chalice.

It's jaw-dropping and horrific which begs so many answers to so many questions.

Again, it's been left to the ABC to investigate and report this - not the AFL. Not Channel 7. Not News Corp and Foxtel.

One thing we know - Clarkson made sure he had signed a long-term contract before this report was handed down. No way in hell he would have been given one now.
