After years without recruiting an Indigenous player, Clarko arrives and convinces the higher ups that these players can be assets...if they are herded in with the Good White Men, isolated from their kin and domesticated so that they are no longer wild animals.

Absolutely horrific. Premierships won this way have a poison chalice.
It makes you wonder whether this sort of abuse was limited to indigenous players, or was actually also extended to other young and vulnerable players.

We can't let it happen.
I will go feral mode on this.
There's crossing the line, and then there is tearing apart families and.. far out is this genocide?

It's going to be decided by the depth of outrage and anger the AFL perceive I reckon.

If they think they can bluff their way through it, they will.

Not hard to believe. If they had no issue with mistreating indigenous players they'd have no qualms at all with others.

It's jaw-dropping and horrific which begs so many answers to so many questions.

Again, it's been left to the ABC to investigate and report this - not the AFL. Not Channel 7. Not News Corp and Foxtel.

One thing we know - Clarkson made sure he had signed a long-term contract before this report was handed down. No way in hell he would have been given one now.
Man to be fair to News Corp one of their reporters wrote a book on the culture within AFL administration last year that (as Russell Jackson pointed out in the ABC) got absolutely memory-holed because Nine, which dominates footy media, wouldn't discuss it.

I don’t think there’s any bluffing through this.
If it’s true, Clarkson and Fagan cannot be involved with the sport ever again.

That's a possibility. Hadn't thought of that.

NMFC could cite a lack of complete disclosure by Clarko.

If the allegations are true, then the AFL (who now say are investigating all this) would have to remove Clarkson and Fagan from the AFL for life.

It's a litmus test for the AFL and the club's containing the accused - only if/when it is actionable (I'm not in the nitty gritty of knowing how this sort of thing plays out so soon after a bombshell report, legally etc).

You mean 7, yeah?

But what you say proves my point - one 'inside' reporter writes a book and it hardly gets mentioned.

Absolutely.

As I just said to another poster, this is a defining moment for the AFL and its stance against racism.

Will it show the transparency, integrity and strength of character needed??

No, Nine. They own The Age and 3AW and 6PR and run the show that reliably sets the weekly agenda - a show that is presented by the head of SEN/AFL Nation (and who clearly does not like author of said book). That's a pretty big chunk of footy media!
