Is there a link to Gil's upcoming press conference?

Can't find any acknowledgement of it anywhere.

Says 10:30am but we're already 45 minutes late and no show from the big fella.

I've turned the tv over to the ABC news channel and they were discussing this situation - they're still waiting on what's happening with the press conference though

Thanks.

The fox must be running amok in the hen house.
ABC now has the little pop up box in the corner waiting for the media conference - but still no set time to start

In the box they seem to be doing camera or lighting tests, so it may not be too far away

Treating people as a football commodity to be exploited at the expense of their emotional, psychological and cultural well being, wow this is a sad. I think even in this GF week it's good to remember that winning is not everything, and that being a decent human being most certainly is.
Everything else is a very distant second.

1) It’s happened to Hawthorn out of every club it could’ve happened to.
That isn’t a positive at all.

I get no joy out of this, this isn’t something to use as a jibe to poke fun at Hawk fans. They’re as disgusted by this as everyone else.

I hate Hawthorn as much as anyone possibly could - just wanted to get that out of the way first. It is my hope other club supporters don't look at this as a point scoring opportunity. Hawk fans are our mates, workmates, family and they would be feeling absolutely flattened by this. This is a bigger issue than footy rivalry, have a bit of empathy for what your mates are going through with this news, because the club they support has made horrendous decisions doesn't mean they are personally involved or responsible. Most have strongly expressed their condemnation of what has taken place.

The players and families affected - nothing anyone can say or do can 'fix' what has happened. I just hope they will be supported as best is possible. Think about what you say when you bag players - you never know what they are going through in their personal lives. I don't know how, but am hopeful some good can come of this eventually. All clubs including ours should be commissioning similar investigations, I'd be devastated if this is more widespread.

There is only two positives out of this whole situation

1) It’s happened to Hawthorn out of every club it could’ve happened to.

2) If somehow we lose on Saturday, it’ll be quickly forgotten except on BF because of what Hawthorn has done.

Not sure how there's any positives from this

Regarding the bold, that's the furthest thing from a positive - this should never have happened at any club, but unfortunately it has happened and today's article indicates it's happened to more than one player.

There's no good club for this to have happened at - I'm not someone who would support Hawthorn all that often, but there's no positive in terms of them being the club at the centre of this issue

And the second point makes no sense and there's just no relevance between the two situations - regardless of the result on Saturday, the story that broke today clearly has had a massive impact on the lives of multiple players & their families and that's more significant than who wins the grand final

People seemed to enjoy ripping into Adelaide Crows over their camp.

Win or lose on Saturday, it’s still true that the Hawks headlines have now taken the spotlight off us. Sydney come into this game with nothing to lose - they overachieved for their list profile.

I feel sorry for the Hawks fans for being associated to such a situation by extension but this website is full of people who like to rip into Essendon and the Crows fans for things their fans can’t control either.

I'd say there's different parts to that and it's played out differently over the years

When first reported the wasn't a lot of detailed information about what actually happened at the camp, and it was more that Adelaide was being mocked over the idea of the came especially as they were coming off a grand final appearance and then shat the bed the next season - it was being reported like a few players just didn't like having to do some hard work

Then look at the response this year when a couple of former players felt that they were now in a better position themselves to speak out about what had happened during the camp, and suddenly instead of mocking Adelaide the responses were more like, "WTF were they doing, and how could they think that was ever ok"

If the public knew back then what they know now, I have no doubt that the initial response would be totally different
