The losses of Bonnici and Blackburn are massive blows to the Pies and the Dogs. Both already very weak teams

The Bulldogs AFLW team were already too inexperienced and the game on Wednesday could be a record score (currently 107) if the Lions play well and make the most of their opportunities.

What has happened to Gold Coast’s AFLW team?

They’ve had such a dominant academy, but it’s just not translating to their senior team.

Agree, there is no excuse with the talent in Queensland to be this uncompetitive. They get the ball to the middle of the crowd and kick it to a Geelong player.

Are enough of those dominant academy players getting into the senior side yet, or is it a case of them not coming on well enough? Are the Suns investing in their W side adequately in terms of resources?

They will get a heap in next two drafts. Harris and Usher will both the number 1 picks in next two drafts. There are also 4-5 other excellent players in those drafts, Dakota Baron will be a weapon also in 2025 draft.

Their better picks from academy lately have been injured. Sienna McMullin did acl last year before the draft. Alana Gee also acl.

Georgja Davies looked pretty handy for 2025 too. Having her and Harris coming through would be a handy duo.

Hawks are putting themselves in a great, if flattering, position. They could easily go through the rest of the regular season undefeated with their draw. Might get exposed in the finals though once they have to play some decent teams.

Hawks look like our biggest rivals for the McClelland trophy... I still can't get my head around the fact that it is based purely off the regular season fixtures.

It always was though -- it's not that big a deal. You want an award for finals performances, get a premiership. There's not enough recognition for strong H&A performance in the AFL and this redresses the balance a little bit.

Been wondering what's up with Zimmie Farquharson. Not getting a game for a very poor side, not obviously injured... I hope she's ok. So much talent, but reading between the lines I get the impression that the separation from the Lions was an unhappy one.

Very worrying situation at Fremantle, Hawks player just dropped to the ground off the ball and has been surrounded by medics for quite a while.
No idea what happened there.

Anyone who doesn't watch a lot of non-Lions games, make the effort to watch a couple of the WA girls - Mim Strom, the Freo ruck and Ella Roberts, the Eagles midfielder. 21 & 20 yo respectively, they are the new wave of players. Strom's ruck craft is great and getting better and for someone 6'3" is amazing below her knees. Roberts' footy IQ is up among the best on the comp and can kick the ball 40m easily. It might take another 5-10 years, but players like this will become maore common than not.
