Biggest throw ever by Cripps but you can't complain about the umps
Mark to Lobb and Cripps clearly throws the arms out ,looks at the Umpire and has a bit to say about a shepherd.

No 50.

No comment from the gutless commentators

This "Umpire Respect" thing is a farce.

Respect applies, except if you are a name player.

Could you imagine Robbo or Toby Greene getting away with it?

I'm absolutely disgusted at the double standards with the application of the "rules" of the game

The umps are in a lose, lose situation really.

No.

Not when B Scott went to pains during the week to proclaim that that there was "no" level of dissent tolerable.

That Cripps one is as bad if not worse than most of the other ones that have been jumped all over
Kinda what I meant. Not many people happy call or no call.

I Know I'm not. If it's called I think it's crazy that players are getting punished for that. If it's not called I'm angry as well because of the double standards etc..

Looks like we agree.

It's the mind boggling double standards that just piss everybody off

They are a pretty suspect 4-1 with a couple of lucky close wins. Pittonet out will be a bit of a problem given their only scoring avenue has been through clearance.

Yeah I think they'll be one of the teams to regress to the mean a bit.

Fremantle I'm still confused about. They don't seem that good based off the eye test but are getting the results

Will Brodie’s move to Freo looks like it is working out well for him.

Suns just couldn’t seem to make it work.

The Eagles are an utterly broken unit. Spooners IMO.

Hopefully a young William Ashcroft is watching.
They have very little youth coming through. Likely to be down a while unless they trade in some quality mids.

Best young players they currently have are:
Petrevski-Seaton
Witherden
Oscar Allen
Petruccelle
Chesser
Bazzo

And that’s about it.

Brayshaw is elite with ball in hand.

Makes the best option look so simple.

And now for something completely different.

I've been impressed with the Prince of Aish's game since he went to Freo.

He's never going to be a star of the game but I'm willing to give credit where it's due.

He looks like a dependable and mistake free role player that coaches really love.

Gold coast should be banned from trading

I wouldn't go quite that far. Still turns it over a fair bit, but seems to have found a role.

Do you think that they will go chasing Luke Jackson and guys like Dev Robertson? They have a bit of form dropping down briefly and then rising up the ladder fairly quickly.

True.

Looks a bit stronger as well.

No star but a 22 lock in this team.

Defensively I think they are pretty good with some good speedy flankers, mids and ruck are quality too. But a very soft draw to start the season which continues for a few more weeks.

Their small forwards are underrated a bit but not sure they have enough there to score enough against the best teams.

I dunno. West Coast have done this "mini tank" before and rebounded quite quickly, mainly through getting quality players back from injury and at their best. The draft haul then becomes the icing on the cake.

They still have several good players under 30:

Ryan
Sheed
Yeo
Kelly
Duggan
Gaff
Barrass
Rioli

If all those guys get back to their best, there's several All Australians and key premiership players. Add in a couple of rejuvenated veterans, bring in some youth and maybe some mature aged types and they could climb back up.

I have seen this story before with West Coast, where they look like dropping off a cliff only to have a huge turnaround the following year or two. They are an incredibly well run club.

They've got the basis for a good team but just lack 2 KPP's which you need when you're up against the better sides.

But they'll trouble everyone they play on Optus because they have the run and know how to play the angles there.
