Ok, but with all the different betting agencies, how do they know who is a sports person and who isn't, and who is allowed to bet and who isn't just by looking at account names?
Cross checking of names MM - simple searches in today's day and age.

Seems a pretty simple database cross reference with AFL player names and betting accounts. Also connecting addresses woukd be pretty easy. As someone else has said IP addresses could further confirm connections

What's more ridiculous is how could these players think they wouldn't get found out IMO considering it is so easy to track someone's internet activity.

The AFL has partnerships with the agencies where they provide a list of names, etc, of their personnel including players and officials. You get a "Jack Crisp" showing up in your betting agency online, you have a closer look.

they also had a lo of avenues to goal, which atm we don't

Nah, we have...It's been unsettled with injury etc and still a work in progress... NAB pre-season game and a lot of the dogs goals came from midfielders....With Liam Jones gone and ex "injectors" player Crameri on the sidelines Ace Cordy, Goodes and Redpath all were trying to impress...on the other side of that the Pies were far from full strength and yep the team picked were exposed on speed, I don't expect that come round 1.....
