Why couldn't he just wrap his arms in a bear hug type tackle and hold it in?

Do you really think the next player in Cockatoos situation should have free reign to do the same thing and concuss a player?

Just as the high bump you get a split second to do something reckless or look out for the other players welfare.
He certainly, deliberately, grabbed him around the leg to make sure he fell. That isn't against the rules though and would have been because of the size difference. I think he would have struggled to hold him.
Worth looking at and agree it contributed to the injury. I just don't see it being illegal as things stand though.
Interestingly, while looking for footage via google, the search brings up videos of Cockatoo being reported for a sling tackle in last years round 3 of the NAB series. He has pre-season form, it seems.

He made it so he landed horizontally. How could he not hit his head quite hard on the ground? If he tackled his so he stayed upright he wouldn't have hit the ground. It was a dangerous tackle endangering the head. Similar to Frosts but with more force. Hard to understand for me how they could condone the tackle when they're trying to reduce head knocks.

I think you have a point, but I think the Frost one was deemed to be a bit of a sling. They're quite specific about that, but not this type. Fine line, and a I said, worth looking at. Picking up the legs is dangerous, but not yet ruled against as it is fairly rare.

I wouldn't quite say that. The AFL have been trying to get rid of the sling tackle for a couple of years now.
A driving tackle like that is not something they have previously been trying to outlaw.

Its more of a personal bugbear I have. You get incidents were someone is concussed in an accident investigated and suspensions for weeks, but then you have punches and elbows let go with minimal punishment (or insufficient force). It just seems backwards to me. So yes the current admin seems to dislike certain tackles but to me they let other much worse incidents get off lightly

Every year everyone raves about how the Suns are finally going to do something. I've yet to see any evidence.

I reckon we're a 40-60 chance of knocking them off in Rd 1. If it was at the Gabba, 50-50.
