How's this for a stat...

The gap between the 2nd ranked player for total clearances (Hugh Greenwood@57) and 23rd ranked player (Luke Parker@42) is the same as the gap between Libba (72) and Greenwood.

The guy is a god damned animal.

Libba inhabits a place where angels fear to tread.

Our beautiful recluse going down mainstream media street.

Anything is possible in this world I guess...

Would be very satisfying to see this guy be the player we all thought he was going to be from 2012-14 and win a Brownlow.

Couldn't be happier. Libba is the heart and soul of our midfield. Hope his contract gives him what he deserves.

Heart and soul of not only midfield but the whole club.

He is simply a JET

Given I was only a very young kid during the peak of Tony’s powers, who’s better - Tony or Tom?
Tom is more talented.
His dad was magnificently hard working and courageous.. but a pretty ordinary kick.

Libba gives the gentlest high 10s in the business.

Anyone else noticed that? I really enjoy them.

Not sure about gentle but they're definitely tight. All of his movements have an incredibly tight range of motion. He reminds me a lot of Bruce Lee. It's like he moves each limb precisely as far as he needs to but never a centimetre in excess. As for the high 10s, I reckon there's an explosive burst of power at the top of the motion but, much like his handballs, no cameras invented have the frame rate required to catch it. I reckon he could smash a few bricks with a Bruce Lee style one-inch punch, but you'd never see the fist strike the bricks and opposition fans would cry that he's cheating.

Tom is the more skilful player, by quite a margin. Tony was something special, one of my all time favourites. A real man of his time. It’s hard to argue against a guy who has won a league BnF in every competition he has participated in, but if it is just pure ability, Tom. Equally important to the Club.

There's a breathless hush in the Close to-night —
Ten to make and the match to win —
A bumping pitch and a blinding light,
An hour to play and the last man in.
And it's not for the sake of a ribboned coat,
Or the selfish hope of a season's fame,
But his Captain's hand on his shoulder smote
"Play up! play up! and play the game!"

The sand of the desert is sodden red, —
Red with the wreck of a square that broke; —
The Gatling's jammed and the colonel dead,
And the regiment blind with dust and smoke.
The river of death has brimmed his banks,
And England's far, and Honour a name,
But the voice of schoolboy rallies the ranks,
"Play up! play up! and play the game!"

This is the word that year by year
While in her place the School is set
Every one of her sons must hear,
And none that hears it dare forget.
This they all with a joyful mind
Bear through life like a torch in flame,
And falling fling to the host behind —
"Play up! play up! and play the game!"

This guy...

Think Tony was talented as well. Not just the wet weather player Malthouse envisaged.
He was a victim of the Royal, Mcguiness era.2 of the best and skillful rovers the club has ever had.
Then later proved under Wheeler what talent he could bring to the AFL.
Tom is definitely the better kick and centre clearance player.
But they were both their weight in gold.

Some of you might remember that I accosted the great man Libba in the beer garden of a pub in Fitzroy and he told me to go away not with words , but a terrifying death stare.

Anyway there was a bloke at the table with him who looked familiar. Only afterwards did I clock him , it was Marc Fennell off mastermind on SBS.

So Libba is friends with Marc Fennell, or at least a drinking buddy.
