Wow, Hudson is a terrible radio commentator. Not sure how many mistakes he's made today but blatant mistakes like

"Carlton have won, 15.10 - 100, defeating North Melbourne 18.8 I mean um, North Melbourne winning"

How can you not get the mistake that wrong unless, even if perhaps he was reading off a teleprompter.

Christ I need to stop watching scores while at work, had a mini heartattack watching that 5-6 goal lead dry up. So glad we hung on and drew with a bag to boot!

Thanks for the updates BE.

Also gotta say, Ricky wasn't bad on the live chat also;)

Alot of key win there!!!

Just got back from Prince's Park. Rundown in dot point form.

-- Was a really fun atmosphere and it was really interesting to head to a suburban ground for an AFL match, even if it was only preseason. Everything felt retro, except for the prices, although in 2012, $6 for a Carlton Draught can is good value. However, those people saying the AFL should turn the ground into a third stadium are kidding themselves. It's gone to pieces in the past decade and would need $100m+ to get it up to scratch. Huge bottlenecks everywhere.

-- Wish we had a ground that could hold preseason games. Carlton would've made a killing today.

-- Huge turnout. Wouldn't be surprised to see an attendance over 13 000. Everyone working was swamped and surprised to see such a huge turnout.

-- Goldstein gave Kreuzer one of the biggest baths I've ever seen before being subbed off at halftime (and then back in again in the third). Kreuzer worked into it when McIntosh was in the middle. Not good signs for H going into 2012. I'm not a fan of the two ruckmen.

-- Petrie. Awesome. Tarrant. Not awesome.

-- We looked so slick in that third quarter.

-- If I had to sum up our game plan in one word and four numbers: Geelong 2007. Straight down the guts using handball, move it on at all costs.

I'll post more when I can remember some more. Was a great day.

The SEN commentators just said Carlton won by 16 points, they kept making mistakes on stats/scores all game

listened too all the sen call and it was as biased as an interstate radio station, willing carlton along all the way in the close first half so i wouldnt have a clue what was happening.

they dont know the players so they dont rate them, even after the win which i know is a preseason clash the talk went back to how carlton will finish near the top 4.

very happy with the defence holding up in the last quarter and a bit and harper mcmillin, and keep an eye on that adams fellow as well. didnt mind the Todd dropping into the backline as well

AT one point in the third term today McIntosh had a free hit at the ball, Kreuzer had mistimed his run, and McIntosh tapped it directly onto Kreuzer's chest. Krezuer ran through kicked it deep into the forward line and the result was a goal.

Hamish is a terrible tap ruck man. He may be great around the ground but unless he can play forward or collect a dozen marks a game I don't think he is such a benefit to our team's structure.

Picked the wrong pre-season game to miss. Cross face.

Listened to SEN and was reminded why I have foxtel. Because even when their commentary is shit, I can turn it off and still see what north are doing. I turned SEN off and still had as much idea what North were up to. With SEN on, I got the wrong score, an update on the food, and an ongoing assessment of Chris Judd. Yawn.

Cunnington appears to be struggling.

76% game time for 11 disposals. 12 in similar time last week. Hopefully they are flogging him during the week or something because at the moment he is still off the pace.

He is probably lucky Ziebell is out and Garlett had an interupted pre-season because on form he should not be playing round 1.

Not sure if any one else picked up on the fact that carlton used all three of there interchange players as well we only had 22 players who played today that would explain Carlton looking to have more run towards the later stage of the game.
Thats a super impressive win all things considered although l think there outs were slighty better quality than ours.
Petrie was the difference in the result still need Tarrant to do more and the defence was undermanned and super

The only time I noticed Cunnington was when he walked past me on one of his multiple benchings.

Seems like he's JZ11. Can't get close to running a game out and needs constant rotations.

No need to worry about Cunnington as Lileasy pointed out to me in the 3 rd quarter how well Cunnington was tagging Judd on the ball and when I watched him closely that's what he was doing so ignore the possession count today as he was hard at it and I lost coin how many times before a hand in, a spoil and tackling was first class.

Here is a run down on how I saw some players performances:

Thompson - was a general in the back line and rebounded the ball out of 50 at least 8 times and his delivery was excellent. 8/10

Firrito - did some. Ice things in the second half but his opponents (Robinson and Waite) were two of the Blues better players. 5/10

Mullet - played on Betts and Garlett at different times and beat them both comprehensively. His run and kicking out of defense was dry good. Best game I've seen him play. 7/10

Wells- Close to BOG. Was in everything and did not shirk one contest so he has no after affects of his treatment. 8/10

Adams - what a little ripper this bloke is. Was in everything in te first half. 7/10

Goldstein - Got better as the game went on Nd his one n one on one contests were unbelievable. His close in work was sublime with his handballing a real feature. 7/10

HMac - Thought he struggled a bit today and Kreuzer got into the game hitch lifted the Blues. Had to bring back Goldy for the last Q. 4/10

Bastinac - Started on the pine and came on early and dominated. His hands in close are high class and his run was great. Set for a big year. 8/10

MacMahon - don't believe he played much of the first quarter but when he came on he was really good. Disposal was good and his. Oil head stemmed many attacks. Worked really well with Mullet and JMac. 7/10

JMac - Just about the best game ive seen him play. Sure hands and good field kicking will make him an automatic selection for round 1. 7/10

Petrie - He was just fantastic today. They tried 3 different players on him including two at a time but alas he was just too good. 8/10

Tarrant - Not many stats and was subbed for the third quarter but I can tell you this. He is a natural forward and runs to the right places. His work rate plus the contest he provided allowed Petrie more freedom. Must persist with him. 6/10

Swallow - Not his greatest game but he was still very serviceable and seemed to be tagged by Armfield and Carrazzo at different times. 6/10

Thomas - He played like he should and that is as a crumbing forward who plays up the ground. I really liked his game today and I am one of his biggest critics. Kicked two ripper goals and his delivery into the 50 was a highlight. 7/10

Our game style is now emerging and as has already been mentioned it is similar to Geelong but there were times we went around the boundary from the back line and I counted 5 times we moved from backlne to shot on goal without a Carlton player touching it. My only disappointment today was that I never brought my surfboard because the waves our boys were creating when running were Bells Beach like.

Finally that 15 minutes in the 3rd when we kicked 6 in a row was unbelievably good football as we won just about every contest there was including at least 7 turnovers I counted from pressuring and tackling. If that's our ceiling this year then we will be beating good teams this year, mark my word.

Nice to meet up with Gustev and watch the game together. We were happy campers.
