Anyone upset with this deal is mad. Put it into perspective.. The fact we got him to sign for the reported 800K a year is a worth the pick 28 in itself.. He is worth over 1 million in today's market. Hell, Tom Boyd is on over 1 million a year and played VFL most of the year... We got one of the best players on the league for WAY under market value.
Agree with everything you posted ,he could of got 1.2 mill if he wanted it yet picked us for 800 happy days ahead:thumbsu::D

My view is once you decided to not over pay him, the draft becomes a factor for us, but not huge.

You give up 9 because thats what you need to use to get him in the draft.

Minimal risk of him not lasting to that pick imo. Non vic clubs wouldnt touch him, Carlton wont use pick 1 on him. Collingwood might have, but they wont keep pick 7. Maybe Melbourne roll the dice. Maybe Essendon. They probably go for 10 year prospects though.

The risk probably doesnt warrant giving up another 1st rounder. So you give up 28 and Gore to stay out of the draft. You pay more than you want, but still win the trade, we avoid complete disaster of RFA compo.
Solid post.

I just think the "something" should be 28 or Gore but not both.

I became attached to Gore which is why I'm a tad unhappy to see him go... I guess I'll have to watch him from afar and see how his career progresses.

Now we need to find another redhead.

Motlop finished above Selwood in the Carji. So what's so funny? Seems our coaching staff already think Motlop was better than Selwood this season.
Come back when Motlop plays at our ruckman's feet for every ball up of a game against a team like Hawthorn. Motlop is extremely talented, but a tough inside, clearance beast he is not.

I think you are greatly underestimating how tough it was in 2015 for Selwood with no real support, or how much better it will be in 2016 with another gun inside mid next to him.

So that makes Motlop a better player than Selwood?
No it makes him a better player this past season than Selwood, he's also younger than Selwood and clearly on the up while Selwood is clearly fading. So yeah next year I'd be willing to bet Motlop has a better season than Selwood again.

think you blokes have done very very well to not have to give up your first pick from this year and next for one of the best mids in the comp... you got a steal especially at below market value.

P.s the bloke saying that selwood is past it and will be your 4th best mid next year... oh boy..

Dean33? Gore is that you? ;)

You are not comparing like for like. Selwood would probably have looked great standing outside packs waiting for someone to shovel the ball out to him too. Unfortunately he would have been waiting a long, long time in 2015.

how tough it was in 2015 for Selwood with no real support,
c'mon seriously the opposition tagger's been going to Selwood nearly every week since 2013. He's just getting past it and unable to physically push through it anymore and I don't blame him. He's given everything to the club and I admire his commitment immensely but he's nowhere near Dangerfield, Duncan, and is slipping below Mots for mine.

Wait and see how much better other players are with Danger playing with them and also watch how Adelaide have problems without him...
