Was quoting a poster saying youre on of the better clubs...not this year you're not

Sides go up and down but the better clubs spend more time up the top and less time down the bottom than others .

Geelong,Hawthorn,Sydney and perhaps Collingwood are well managed clubs with winning cultures that players want to play for .

Adelaide is a club that goes up and down the ladder like a yoyo .They also lack stability as evident by the frequency with which they sack their coach .

were you not leaving champ

I agree totally that we are inconsistent but things can and will change

Tottenham ;)

Lived in the UK for a little while when I was about 10 years old and played a lot of soccer growing up. Loved Lineker and Gascoigne and didn't want to jump on the at-the-time Liverpool bandwagon, so it's been the Spurs ever since.
TurtleMaster I'm not alone :) I have a friend on the board :) :) :)

I started following spurs after we did a genealogy search and found that a relative worked at the club in the late 1800's early 1900's and then there's also that there's a district in London which is our surname and it it right near the Seven Sisters Road and very close to the Lane. So it was meant to be:)

lol how did i know that would excite you

circle work

There are 3 main options
1. danger stays and gets $$$ for this charade from the crows
2. he is traded to geelong for pick r1 pick plus motlop
3. he comes through rfa unmatched

the crows want to believe options 1 and 2 and have spent valuable space crapping on

i am happy to take on any crowbots who are flocking our board despite not allowing reciprocal rights on this issue

Geelong has 8 players over 30 who are on good money coming out of contract at the end of the year , none are certain to play next year. We also have injury prone players and others who we can move on .This is how Geelong will move players on to get Dangerfield .
With what is said above - where is Geelong's current list at? Are you guys looking at a rebuild for a couple of years - or try to sneak through using trade / FA to avoid a drop in results?

We are in the middle of a rebuild. 2 years down 2 to go (more or less). As I see it - we use FA to get in players that can hold a position until a youngster can fill the spot. Dangerfield and Clark are our first real departures from this model.

Overall, it's better to try and stay up and get finals experience and a good culture in the place than slip down the list in search of picks. But that's just my opinion.

Active list in transition - has been for years - and will continue to be so. That said, seems the club wants to be as competitive as possible while doing so. AS much toping up as drafting and blooding new players.

Where that puts us ladder wise depends on the week at the moment. Injuries cruelling us ( 16 at the moment) so perhaps the list position not quote representative of the healthy list but you are judged each week on wins not list potential.

As for what they are trying to do - stay up and win as much as possible and rebuild at the same time (with the bottom out)

Guys if we did go for gor a trade being realistic what a fair trade for him probably go with fa, just want to know what would you pay for someone like danger.

The frustraition is this has probably been answered a bit , but if we forget that Geelong have already focused on what they will do with their R1... Id say our R1 and a fringe player or a late pick. The gist is that you would hardly see much difference in the deal , not enough to risk matching. Matching doesn't mean we automatically trade. Matching means you agree to pay what the offer is. So if we offer 1.2 * 2 years , you must have that space and be willing to do it. The comparisons to Pre FA deals are almost worthless cause times have changed. It may have been interesting if the Crows had said lets deal at the end of last year , when we did the pick swap. Id say we would have given you our R1 after the pick swap and perhaps a SA player that wanted to go home.

wonder how long the transition will be maybe 3 more years to completely rejuvenate our list i am not really sure however i am excited for the future

The reality is that there is currently a layered system in the AFL were the better clubs like Geelong, Hawthorn and Sydney will be able to stay up the top of the ladder most of the time. This is in part to do with the fact that these clubs will take players from lesser clubs and give up nothing via free agency or give up less than what they are worth via a trade.
The system you describe is helped by the fAct that clubs like Melbourne and Adelaide are #feederclubs

Interesting that Sanderson says Danger seems certain to leave Adelaide….and Cornes now thinks Danger is gone to Geelong as well….though he expects Geelong to trade Motlop + our first round pick for Dangerfield.

Hmmmm…..perhaps a little wishful thinking there?

Danger need to come home to mummy home cooked meal seeing danger cant cook:D.
