Gibbs is going to be a very good player, if we're going to bag the Blues, bad Wiggins, Fisher, Hadley, Cloke, Walker, Russell etc who have been around for a long time yet still haven't managed to do anything.

Harsh on Fisher and Walker but fair enough on the others you mentioned.

Fish kicked 30+ goals in 07, played with a niggling injury to his hand for the majority of last year.

Walker was in some really good form in 07 before injuring his shoulder in 08.

Both probably look set for strong years but they have to put the hard yards in and hopefully stay injury free.

...That will hopefully announce both our clubs are back where we, (but not necessarily the rest of the football community), want to be.

The Blues vs. Tigers rivalry has still maintained plenty of grunt over the years despite our clubs not respectively playing finals football on a consistent basis. I'm old enough to remember why I love to see Richmond on the end of a pasting, but also reserve a nostalgic respect for the likes of Dale Weightman and Jimmy Jess. Big Richo is definitely in that company and the best example as a player of why the Tigers have the passionate supporters they do.

So- while wanting to smash you into little pieces- I hope it is a great night for our clubs and just a taster of what we should expect over the coming years.

i really cant understand how carlton supporters can defend a player like fisher a dud in the highest order-bare with me here with players like fisher in your team just proves the lack of depth in your fowardline.

the guy isnt an accurate kick
cant kick over 40 metres
2nd & 3rd efforts are very very poor
so basically he has to mark within 30 metres on no more than a 45 degree angle to kick goals.

im not just having a go for the sake of bagging carlton here so again bare with me !!

kane pettifer gets bagged by every supporter in the league including the tiger faithfull he his a great mark for his size (he plays tall) even though 8cm shorter is a similar type player to fisher.

he is a very very good mark, very good kick even outside 50 & does perform in big games - but we all still bag him & is no longer in the tiger best 22 probably between our 25-30 player range.

kayne played 22 games 357 poss 147 marks 37 goals 21 behinds 35 tackles.

very similar to fisher , but because he doesnt do enough chasing or tackling will probably find himself on the scrap heap.

in my eyes both fisher & pettifer are duds & will not be, should not be playing afl in 2011 if either team are to be sucesfull in the future.

that has nothing to do with why a 25-26 yo is still on the list, is that all you could come up with.

so long as you have players like fisher on your list & starting 22 tells me its a weak fowardline.

Wiggins = Almost certain for round 1. Go figure about getting rid of the schmends...

Another point: Fisher and Petiffer are very similar in out-put, Pettiffer slightly ahead in almost all stats. Yet Fisher is still on the list. Your excuse was that Petiffer should be better, given his pick. Yet clearly Ratts hasn't weeded out the duds...

Wiggins being a certainty for Round 1 is completely inaccurate

I wouldnt have thought Petiffer was that bad a player. Sure hes no superstar and certainly hasnt lived up to his high draft pick. But used in the rotation of your forward line and i think hes pretty handy. Certainly a lot better than Wiggins.
This is the year for the Tiges though. If you dont play finals, Terry certainly must come under scrutiny. If not already. How many years past his 5 year plan are you?

Just like Knights is about to find out, when you inherit a list of 80% spuds, it takes a long while to replace them. Luckily The Dockers seem happy to take quite a few of yours. But 3 years might be optimistic IMO!

It appears that Parrot has crapped on a lot of its fellow supporters reading some of the stuff they have written over there. They appear to have a contingency (excuse) plan for everything, despite according to them only having to rock up to win, with our without Fev. Here's what i mean:

IF the Blues win, it will be a case of I TOLD YOU SO, we are too skilled, too much talent, your list is a rabble etc etc and we cop it. HOWEVER:

IF the Tigers win, it is not due to how we played no no no. It will be a number of reasons such as:

- We had 5 x 30yr olds playing, SO it doesn't count, because the Blues are much younger and don't care about round 1 (really?!), rather they are concerned with building a premiership dynasty.

- We flooded Fev so the poor man couldn't get a fair crack. So instead of finding another avenue to goal, this is also our fault, because Terry knows we cant go them one-on-one (because they are far too skilled remember?), despite flooding being around for years and most coaches would try to find a way around .

- And then of course, its still early days and the teams were both trying new things (despite the NAB cup being over). So technically it doesn't count and the re-match is all thats important.

All this is bought on due to the belief (through Parrot's constant spruiking) that they are all "top shelf talent", "infinite potential", "pure skill" and "astounding skills". And therein lies the problem, alot (not all) of them are starting to believe this hype so much so that if anything was to go wrong, it can't possibly be the Blues fault, rather other sources (as above).

Remember: Foley has a dodgy ankle, Fev has a dodgy ankle.
Carrazzo/Stevens missing for the Blues, Cotchin/Johnson missing for the Tiges. Im not sure how much more even you can get.

If we go down, so be it. But if we get up expect a tirade of excuses from over there --->

Yes, and Terry himself has stated this, but Terry said we will be ready for the tilt at the Premiership by 2011, and I really see this too.

Going by what it will most likely be to 2011.

2009 - Finish inside 8, anywhere up to around 5th
2010 - Aim for top 6 or above.
2011 - Aim for top 4, and Premiership tilt.

From then on is the window we have to win numerous Premierships.

Basically all Terry has done is build the club up from the shithole of a list that was left when Frawley blew us to pieces, whether he is the man to continue on with that is up to him and the players finishing in the 8 this season, but he has done a damn good job after what Frawley done to us.

You're right buddy, it'll be raining accolades. The only thing getting pumped is the perennial dick situated on the collective Carlton's forehead in the hopes that it will someday become somewhat less microscopic in size.
