Hutchy just said GC rate Caddy #2 behind Swallow for the young fellas. Strongly suggesting GC do not deal him, work some other way to get him to Melb regularly etc...

I agree with pretty much everything the guys on TWR said, to be honest. GC will do everything they can to keep him, which is why they want so much for him. Trading 101, I guess. Still not sure I can see him going, but it's going to be a long 4.5 hours! Anything can happen.

Yeah me too, play hard ball on this get that reputation going. They have to set an example as this is essentially our first trade week.
I'm with Hutchy on this. There must be ways to keep him at the Suns & allow him time with his family too.
I agree that Caddy is 2nd only to Swallow in our young midfielders & that's high praise, because Mckenzie, Bennell & Prestia are also very good. Smith would be ahead of him too, but obviously in a different role.

Yeah he was referring to young onballers. I'm sure we can accomodate his "compassionate needs".
He will end up being our Hodge/Goddard bigger midfield utility, and we all know how important those players are to their sides.
The next step early-mid next year will be getting pen to paper for a contract extension 3-4 years 900k - 1.3 mil deal? Including some sort of travel arrangement.
Does anyone know who his living arrangement has been with this year? Maybe throw him in with Gaz to coach him through the whole living away from family or something

So much for only being interested in future (ie compo) picks.
Bodes well for us.
It's simply an upgrade of picks. He had a pre-season with us last year, and played with the reserves a few times, and we took advantage of having him as a zone selecion by simply trading him on to upgrade our pick. Doesn't say we aren't going after compo picks.
By doing this, it's also one less player on our list to account for at the end of next year. Good move.

Mediation happening between Essendon and Suns happening regarding Caddy. Wonder if a deal is starting to get formed? TWR guys seem to think Gumbleton and Hooker at least on the table.

Surely we wouldn't take Gumbleton as part of the deal. I didn't even know he still played! Can you still play AFL after healing from a punctured lung? Sounds painful.

Just found out Josh Caddy is a nephew of former Fitzroy player, Michael Reeves. Even more reason to keep him.
Either way if we get him or not are you guys resigned to Caddy coming back at some stage?

I would take #19, hooker and promising yet constantly injured Gumby... It way overs for Caddy in my opinion and worth the Suns taking the punt... Hooker would be a great pick up in defence. Gumby... Well it's a punt, nothing more... There is a reason Dons have kept him for 5 years... It's just the age old question if when will he deliver if ever... Got the talent, just a dodgey body.
