German wasn't sacked. He stepped down and was pretty much immediately announced as senior coach at Coburg. Been in pipeworks a while, obviously.

Just reading the John Anderson's top 10 smartest trade deals (AFL.com) and got a little worried when I seen what Collingwood did in 2004 with MM there.

Basically traded away the opportunity to have Jordan Lewis and Mark Lecras to acquire Chris Egan and Chad Morrison with some other bits and pieces involved.

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but I hope we dont have any sort of howler like this.

Then again is it Hawthorn just being better then most to to get these deals done as the Gunston deal in the same article is another great coup for them.

All coaches/recruiters have had howlers, Cameron Wood for pick 14 is the one from Micks past that has had me worried. Have to trust his experience and judgement will work out more often than not.

Someone sometimes reliable (so take with a grain of salt) may have said on twitter today that Corey will be an assistant coach with us next year.

It definitely fits Mick's criteria: player straight out of the game.

And Chris Scott will finally have to start building his own premiership team. He has been working with the remains of Bombers team for the last couple of years and the 2011 team won the flag rather than Scott making any miracle moves from the coaching box.

It's like Parkins has always said about the Carlton '95 premiership team... any one could have walked in there off the street as coach and we still would have won the premiership that year.

Yep. Well said...and exactly the same could be said about Enright who will probably be next...

I remember a story in the HUN about the 'Two Coreys' way back when...they started around the same time, just two kids playing footy together...goddamn that club managed to put something freakish together...

Not entirely convinced McEvoy is what Hawthorn need? He's an excellent contested mark and pretty good around the ground, but he's by no means a great tap ruckman.

Still think they've won the trade, strange decision by St Kilda.... you just don't trade promising 24 year olds you've put so much effort into unless you're forced to! Especially since they are so light on for players in that age bracket.

Think it'll suit Hawks very well actually. Hale is a decent ruck/forward and McEvoy is a decent ruck/floating back. Will work well with their zoning gameplan.

Trade was roughly about right for mine, Saints probably deserved a bit more but they aren't really looking to use their later picks anyway so anything Hawks could have given them in that vein wouldn't have been that great for them.
