I'm listening and they aren't unfounded I just don't think we should start jumping on players after Round 1!
I partly agree in that it's too early to judge player at round 1. But the problem is that Tip's stats for round 1 year 2009 are pretty much what he was giving us through most of 2008. And those stats are not good enough for an AFL footballer of 1 game experience let alone 20+.
Craig says he selects on performance. In Tippett's case this is not so.
I am disappointed because he showed something in the trial match against the Swans. He must deliver on his promise soon, or maybe seek a contract back in basketball.

I only got around to watching (well, starting) 'On The Couch' just now. I was about to make a thread and I see there's already one with people expressing the game issues I had.
I thought the Crows game was full of hard hits and the intensity was great.
Don’t tell me it got worse? I have it IQ’d but I have no intention of continuing on after that start.
I gave up on it after 5 minutes when Sheehan said that he wasn’t impressed with the Crows game. He said how many possessions were in the game and how many were contested. Highlighted that 26 of McLeod’s 30 disposals were uncontested. Does someone need to remind Sheehan that this is 2009? He might have a media centre named after him but that doesn’t mean he can be a tool. He mentioned the Bulldogs game. Yeah the Bulldogs are high scoring but their games aren't exactly known as being hard, contested games either.

It was actually pretty good for once (after a few bad words from Mike), Hirdy is great there, Healy actually has a chance to get in and say something now that Walls isnt taking all the air time so he's improved. Now bring Carey back and replace Sheehan than it will be great

Wasn't there a stat that the bulldogs only had two tackles in a half? And they won.
I just can't agree with your sentiments here. Tippett has consistently showed "something" and has pulled his weight in many of his games. This preseason has shown him to be dangerous in the forwardline and a useful ruckman.
As for 2008, let's separate it into chunks.
The first eight rounds came on the back of strong preseason form, particularly during the grand final. Took him a while to get going but most games he kicked multiple goals five out of eight games, including four goals and a rising star nomination against Melbourne.
In the next nine games showed some promise, and won a decent number of possessions and hitouts in some games, but his goalkicking tally started to taper out. Didn't really play two bad games in a row other than rounds 16 and 17, and was subsequently dropped.
He then played two games at the end of the year on the back of SANFL form.
Tippett is not there yet, that's no secret. But he does not have a free pass in the Crows side.

Fox Football FC there Soccer analysis program with Andy Harper is fantastic. Thouraly profesional and you can tell they do there research on all the A-league games. They give equal time to each match and plenty of debate. Although they only have 4 A-league matches to do they also do good reviews of socaeroos matches and and aussies playing overseas

the question is whether its warranted, not whether it exists.
fwiw, I've tended to be in favour of said pass as an active investment in his development. which is why it was a little disappointing to not see more improvemen than that.
hopefully, we'll see a bit more in coming weeks.

For example, Luke Hodge is widely regarded as one of the toughest players in the game. BUT he also does have a side to his game, which is recieving and kicking in the same way Andrew Mcleod plays. He doesn't get that many more contested possesions than Mcleod. 4 vs 3 on the weekend.
And FACT:
Adelaide Crows had 17 more contested possessions than Hawthorn on the weekend, yet their gamestyle is super awesome and ours is crap and uncontested.

Over here we have a stigma that we're an ultra defensive team that just chips around all day, we don't actually kick any goals, that's why Bock and Rutten do well against their opponants, their not actualy good defenders, it's widely know that they have 17 other players help them beat their man. Then after we have the bball we can chip back and fourth. We also have no good youth and no ruckman.
At least we'll be safe from the Gold Coast concessions because we would have anyone they'd want.

Unless you mean that he's one of very few people who can fill his role and therefore doesn't have to work as hard at keeping it? (Similar to how Maric is all but assured a place in our side with only Griffin a chance at replacing him)
Well I emailed Foxtel asking them to fire Glen Jakovich but I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon.
I think Crowie means that a 200 cm athlete who has such enormous potential is worth cultivating by keeping him in the side to gain AFL experience. That's a judgement call on Craig's part if it is so, and we can only hope that it comes off.
I think we should have left Tip in the SANFL for most of last year to gain experience. That's a judgement call too, but mine ain't as important as that of Neil Craig.
No doubt this is what the Victorian media mafia like to peddle, but Im sure that perception does not exist within the opposition. I recall Jimmy Bartel being interviewed on this same show early in the 2008 season, he mentioned that in 2007 the game Geelong set themsleves for more than any other (minor round game) was Adelaide at home (if you recall it was a dour contest Geelong won by 7 or 8 points). The cats respected our relentless competitiveness and it was this win which he said sparked their genuine belief they had what it would take to go all the way.

It doesn't exist in anyone who follows footy property and watches all teams play/plays or coaches against all teams.
People don't get the news on our boys here, because, well, it sells more papers when you hype the Blues up etc etc.
Thus people say Taylor who? oh Hetschel's back etc.
We have good compliments from those in the know.
