West Coast Eagles have a bloke named Craig Vozzo doing their negotiations. From my understanding he is a South Australian Lawyer who also was a player manager...
I have heard he is a bloody good, hard nosed negotiatior...

What has Harper done but a media course at tafe and 5 years of getting coffee for the boys at West Lakes?
How about Noble? Sports science degree maybe?

Im going to think outside the square. Why not target someone with bugger all football knowledge who is a professional negotiator to be our trade guru/spokesperson? How about a 35 year old female Lawyer?

The West Coast Eagles are a truly professional club.. We are a feeder club

Should probably wait till end of next week to fire the gun.

How will people feel if the end game is

White + 22 + 3 (Toumpos)

Tip Trade nets us White + 22 + 11

Package pick 11 with someone like Porps/Vince/Douglas/Tambling to get pick 3 from GWS.

Go into the draft with 3, 19(20), 22(23) and have White and Graham for depth.

I know nothing just connecting a few dots.

So Phil Harper, is this the same Phil Harper that managed to get every single one of our other young gun players (except for Tippett) signed this year?

And David Noble, is this the same David Noble with an MBA? Five years as an assistant coach in the AFL, two years as a senior coach in the SANFL? Yeah, both of them hacks.

So you're pleased with how everything is trending right now?

Guess what - I know as much as everyone else - ****ing NOTHING!

I cannot believe the immaturity of some people through all this. Let's go off half cocked, with lube at the ready and pitchforks at the door - before we know ANYTHING. Slamming off at someone (Harper) that has done a bloody decent job in stitching up all our young guns despite Tippett's indecision is completely ridiculous. As is having a go at Noble, who by all accounts, did a bloody good job last year. FFS - WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

Don't go off at me, it was a simple question.

But I will respond, as much as I believe in waiting to see the final product. There is always room to openly criticise a process. It is how people are held accountable, right now we don't know what is going on. But I'm sure as hell not going to be happy if we end up with White & Graham as our surrogate Tip & Smack via trade week. Especially when there was a perfectly good Davis replacement in Lachie Hansen just begging for some cash to be thrown at him.

I don't like when someone puts out a statement acting tough then goes to ground the moment that comes out.

What I wanted was Adelaide to play the media harder than we have before. We actually have public sentiment on our side. No one actually likes what Tippett & Blucher have done for us. It has given us an underdog tag, we play the media and say that what they've been offering just isn't good enough and we'll send him PSD if it doesn't work. Be openly critical of the extra space they have and how they are able to secure such a prized asset when no one else can put in a higher offer.

Use our power to drive some sort of meaningful change and actually engage the supporter base which has been left in the dark for the best part of the last month. So I feel very inclined to criticise, and I can be disappointed in exactly what they have done so far.

How many players have left the AFC since Harper got the gig? Just wondering Jenny?
I am just asking, why do we not have a Lawyer negotiating our trades? Especially as other clubs are now going down this path...
You do not always have to defend the AFC Jenny.

A simple question in a thread having a go at Harper and Noble.

Did we want them to play the game that we want, purely for our own selfish reasons (we want to know whats going on)? Or do we want them to play the game that gets us the best results? Maybe, just maybe the two things are related, but often the softly, softly approach is actually more effective because your opposition has no ****ing idea what you are thinking. Sydney have played this very much in the media and frankly have come out of it looking like dicks. Now while some in here think Adelaide don't look so good at the moment, they may end up changing their minds at the end of the trade period if we get more than what Sydney appeared to be offering. Time will tell I guess.

You are blaming Bock, Davis, Gunston and Tippett on Harper?

Excellent post Freddy, this question needs to be asked.

It is not so much about Harper and Noble who I am sure are nice, guys, fit in well down there, are doing their best etc etc. But I think they got their current jobs because they were 'insiders' i.e. 'jobs for the boys' ; they didn't have to compete in an Australian-wide selection process and win the job on merit. As apparently the WC negotiator had to do, to make sure they got the best possible person for the job.

The AFC knows how to do this. To get the best coach they looked Australia-wide, had a selection panel with an objective outside expert in Leigh Matthews, thoroughly assessed those short-listed and then appointed on merit. In that process the 'insider' was Mark Bickley - we all love him, but Sando clearly was better credentialled.

And don't tell me Noble got Crouch, Rendell was the Recruitng Manager unit March this year.

Whatever, the outcome of this trading period, it is clear the supporters do not have much confidence in Noble and Harper and questions have to be asked. We are just asking the club to live up to its own values, to be ruthless and professional in its staff hiring practices.

The acts of sabotage this pair have inflicted upon the club in the last 2 weeks goes very close to undoing all the good work they did in the preceding 40 weeks or so.

As I said in the other thread.. it's almost as if they know they will be sacked for incompetence when they return to Adeliaide, so they're sabotaging our list now in a form of pre-emptive revenge.

I'd blame parts of it on our processes. Which were clearly outdated in the past.

Bock and Davis were AFL expansion - nothing Harper or any mere mortal could have done to stop those. Gunston and Tippett says more about the players than the Club.

You are blaming Bock, Davis, Gunston and Tippett on Harper?

There is no need for you continually rolling your eyes Jenny...
You have been doing it for too long. Like when people were suggesting money was an issue with Kurt, remember?
Lets talk like adults. Our club needs to improve its processes. We are not perfect. Stop attacking supporters who want a constructive discussion... No one is having a go at Triggy:)

If we end up with 11 and 23 it won't be an awful outcome
not ideal obviously, should've moved him on last year to Brisbane but leaving aside that initial mistake the actual trade will be okish

Of course if it ends up being 23 and Jesse the Spud i'll be rejoining the lynch mob
