I agree I don’t see it being an issue for retention and attraction of most, but each of those losses is offset by the additions of Houston and Perryman plus increased contracts to the likes of Hill, Cameron and Maynard. With a strong 2025 LDU is going to be the highest paid player in the game in 2026 and those losses simply aren’t taking us to that level. I’d be more inclined to set my sights on Richards.

Robertson…upgrade on Finn and good big bodied depth but we’ve already picked up Perryman and have high hopes for Allan

Tomlinson …. A need but very much a short term fix

Membrey… the best form of the lot and a good goalkicking option but not a need area and perhaps depth only

Robertson only one in a decent age demographic whilst the other two add to the alleged cliff.

Between the cap increase and the massive list of OOC players next year including some very likely retirees I’m confident we can still make a FA play next year provided we’re still contending for flags so can get a slight discount on the big FA contract market.

I’d rather it be for LDU or Richards. Push comes to shove in the middle we can alway send Jordy forward for 80% of games and get a great outcome there from him.

Acknowledging the draft is quite a way down the path - but was there any indication from Leppa that we'd consider bundling our picks together to move up the order or in to next years etc?

We historically have a good record of converting late picks in to AFL level players - so not the worst position to be in if we end up taking a few picks in that 3rd round of a deep draft either.

Tomlinson, fills a need and is an upgrade on Frampton. the others players i think we have the depth, not sure on our key backs.
really have to look for a key position player in this draft

Fill our NEXT YEAR KP needs via SSP period.
Not DFA (main list & multi year contracts) or pointless "sight unseen Rookie draft".

Bring Membrey, Hayes etc into the SSP period to trial for a rookie spot (1 year contracts).
If Hayes breaks down during the SSP period, don't sign him. Learn that lesson from Eyre this year.

Gives us the KP depth next year (and maybe beyond if Hayes in particular can get on the park).

Gives us list room next year by carrying 1 year rookies and lets us fill in depth holes as needed.

I was hoping we'd find a new home for Macrae - for our benefit, and Krueger - for his benefit. But a cracking trade period. Well done!

A solid tall defender is what I'd be hoping us to find as a FA.

Don’t think we were ever a chance to offload Macrae. Kreuger proved his worth this year as depth and I hope he will be retained, with a view to seeing if he can take it a step further this year and see if he can extend his career further.

Leppa has ruled out Robertson.

But he would have been my preference as he is significantly younger and has scope for improvement

I doubt we'd be looking at Hayes and Membrey if we are intending to give Freddy a contract. However, if they don't look good, he's a chance.
