I like Collingwood's bold strategy in 2024.

We have made clear statement of intent to both the players delisted today and the rest of the list.

We will not die wondering in 2025.

If Markov and Johnson are rookies in 2025, they will recognise the need to absolutely commit to the programme and their efforts should reflect that. It also says to the rest of the list that nothing less than their best effort will cut the mustard with the Coaching panel.

I think we will try and bundle up some picks to move up this year's draft and, perhaps, elevate Dean or Smit from the Rookie List. That will leave us with 36 on the Senior list- Sullivan and Long as Rookies and spaces for four more players to be Rookied.

Just a thought.

Johnson is contracted. It’s not one or the other.

Feel like speculation shouldn’t be confused with hope

I personally look forward to using our rookie spot on a guy we know isn’t good enough while Geelong use theirs on a future Brownlow medalist

It’s not the first time and won’t be the last that a contracted player has been delisted with the intention of re-drafting them as a rookie.

We'll probably do it again next year for McGuane. We've done it when we've had kids to match as it means you can take more picks and thus more points into the draft.

Only way to take another rookie is to
1. Only take 2 picks in the draft, upgrade a rookie
2. Put HH on the inactive list in the pre-season to open up a rookie spot

I’m not sure why there’s so much talk around Markov and AJ. We’ve been delisting and re rooking players for years now. Unless something unexpected happens then I imagine they will both be with us next year

Surely Reef gets moved to try and a be a KPD next year, similar height to Murphy, he’s not a forward so I reckon a new role helps him.
