Deal 1-
Eagles to Pies: Pick 6
Pies to eagles: pick 10 & 27

Deal 2-
Pies to GWS: Pick 6 & Heath Shaw
GWS to Pies: Pick 1 (Tom Boyd)

Deal 3-
Pies to GWS: Pick 11 (Daisy Comp pick) & 3rd round pick
GWS to Pies: Taylor Adams

No need for Jesse White now!

Is this what's brewing? is this why we have not signed White up yet?

Let's go Pies!

So net effect is from current position is we give up Shaw and picks 10, 11, 27 and 3rd-rounder in return for Adams and Boyd? So that's an AA player plus four picks (two of them first rounders) in return for a two kids with lots of potential but plenty of risk.

If you assume that Adams is actually worth pick 11, you're effectively saying we're paying Shaw + 10 + 27 + 3rd-rounder for Boyd.

Seems like substantial overs to me, unless Boyd actually does become a superstar. I guess nothing worthwhile comes without risk.

Under this scenario, we'd be giving up five players (Shaw plus four picks) in return for two players. Does that mean we'd have to elevate three rookies to maintain a full list?

Nice thinking but we would need to throw in a Sidebottom or O'brien for any chance to get pick 1. Still convinced something big is brewing and indication are that we are after pick 6. Surely we would only chase pick if we felt we could use this to have a fair crack at pick 1.

IMO if we got this done we would be the biggest winners of the trade period by a very very long way! Adams avg 22 disp as a 19-20 year old in 2013. Boyd & Cloke together for 4-5 years would be phenomenal! When Cloke is finished Boyd will be 23-24 and will be ready to dominate the game! WIN-WIN-WIN!!! 2013 is a rubbish draft so Taylor Adams and Boyd will be better than picks 6,10,11 & 27 combined!

Its only rubbish after the 1st round. Plenty of talent at picks 10 & 11 (Lennon, Bontempelli, Freeman etc).

Boyd and Cloke Duo would be a beautiful sight though.

Id like to go to the Draft with 6 & 11 tough. Take the slider at 6 and then Lennon at 11. Id even think about Lennon at 6. Realllly want him at the club.

If there is any truth to the WCE trade then surely we have something more planned than trading up 4 places. Since there isn't much difference in the top 15 players (except for Boyd) I think that something big might be on the cards. If by some miracle we did manage to wrangle Boyd and Adams, we wouldn't need any picks in the first two rounds. So why not throw them all in with Shaw to try to make this happen. We already have one of the youngest lists anyway. Or maybe we are keen on Patton.........

Says who? They might have someone they rank at 2/3/4 that they have on good authority might slip to 6, but not much lower. And they may very well rank them much higher than whoever they have ranked at 10 or 11. If they then believe the draft is weak after the first round, it's well worth giving up pick 27 for.

Also having a young list does not equate to a quality list. Throwing away draft picks is poor management. Boyd and Adams don't fix this teams problems.

Ill give it to you that we don't how good Boyd will be. But with Adams we have a player who has shown he is more than capable at AFL level. He will also go a long way towards fixing the problem of what to do when players like Ball and Swan retire. Boyd could be a bust but so could any player we pick up. At least someone like him could fix our "kick it to Cloke or nothing" issue that plagued us this year. We picked up three first rounders last year and we still have plenty of young players who will be pushing for selection next year.

You're all greedy ****ers, but Like that. I like that!!!

Pick 1 will cost a lot more than we're willing to part with, as it stands we have picks 10 and 11 and the shaw compo likely to be Adams, that's 3 potential guns on top of our 3 first rounders last year! 4 of those guys are or will be top 10 quality, our future's so bright we need to ware welding goggles.

It all comes down to how good Boyd can/will be. If he is once is a generation sort of player say like Carey Hird Buckly Voss Franklin I say do it. Two first round picks a second round and Shaw is with it to get Boyd a pick 1 and Adams a pick 13 who looks the goods. We are getting to first round players one who could be the best forward for the next 12 years. If he can live up to the hype it fixes a big problem we have.

He will be one of the best KPF in the game in 3-4 years, someone who you build a side around.

But GWS have made it clear they are a) hard to deal with in terms of them having to always be "clear" winners and b)Want a Pendlebury plus for the pick which leads back to a.

And you don't give up a Pendlebury for unknown at AFL talent, chances are he will fulfil his potential but there is a small risk he doesn't.

People should also remember Boyd could easily turn into Jack Watts

Plenty of super hyped up picks 1s turn into fizzlers once they have to actually play in the AFL

Watts Kruezer Swallow scully gibbs are also recent examples of why you don't sell the farm for pick 1. Most overrated commodity in the game because it represents hope.

Let's be thrilled with 10 11 adams and move on from this boyd crap ! no chance of happening

Giants now with pick 2 too? interesting! Pies set to pounce on pick 1?

Why would the giants having pick 2 increase their chances of trading boyd?

They want to spread out the age of their players which is why they traded tyson for pick 2... plus i've heard from a friend of tyson he wanted to come back to melbourne anyway
