I have not met Todd but from what little I have seen , he appears to be a remarkable young man with an exceptional football talent we haven't seen at this club in quite a while. I am sure he will return even stronger and with a real desire to honour his Mum & Dad. Take care.

Many of us know from experience what the loss of a parent means. It's devastating.
But few of us have any idea of what it means to have lost both your parents before you've reached 20 years of age.

Heartfelt condolences and best wishes to Todd and his family.
Yes that must be awful. I cant imagine how bad that would be when he is so young. I lost my dad when I was 35 and mum at 45. I think of how much support my partner and I give our kids who are aged 21-24 and how much harder their lives would be without us. Very sad. I hope he can recover from this. He will need a lot of support from the club. Hes such a pleasure to watch, I really hope hes a PA player for his whole playing career and its a long career. Such a talent.

Shit!

He was training this morning then all of a sudden he was pulled aside and was in the hands of the Dr’s for a few minutes - I was watching with Baz Curtain and we thought it had something to do with his concussion!

Gut wrenching news!
The article says he passed away last night. Strange that the news wouldn't make it's way to him until today...Unless he tried to push through training before heading back home.

Life is cruel and kicks you in the guts sometimes. Puts all the petty footy squabbles into perspective. That touching instagram post says it all . Ring ya Folks, hug ya loved ones and always have time for them.

Condolences to the Marshall family and all at PAFC.

Port forward on indefinite leave after father dies
PORT Adelaide forward Todd Marshall has taken indefinite leave away from football after the death of his father, Robert, on Monday night.
"The thoughts and best wishes of the Port Adelaide Football Club community are with Todd Marshall and his family after the sad passing of Todd’s father, Robert, last night," the Power said in a statement.
"Todd will take indefinite leave from the club to return home and be with his loved ones and will be unavailable for selection during this time.
"The club requests that the privacy of Todd and his family be respected."

When I read that title, I thought "Oh no, which forward? RGray? SGray? Dixon? Neade?. Who? .... Oh no! Not Todd!!!"

Just gutted to hear this ... Condolences Todd!

All in Deni or thereabouts. I'm sure they'll talk about it - I know he loves the club so would be great if it happened. Know a few mates are thinking about it. He's a strong character regardless as we all know.
I had another look at his twitter account after your reply and saw his picture with his siblings and parents. His oldest brother looks about 15-20 years older than Todd, his sister and other brother maybe 10-15 years older and his youngest brother around the same age. I think he will be leading on those siblings a lot older than him.

I'm over twice his age and have two fit and healthy parents. I can't even fathom this happening to someone so young. My heart goes out to him and his extended family.

Dearest Todd, we have never met, but please know I and I'm sure everyone from the PAFC and beyond loves you. Sincerest condolences to you and your family.

only just found out about this heartbreaking news, for a while now I've been wrestling with being down about my life's direction and loss of those that mattered most being gone, I no longer enjoyed or looked forward to things, I was contemplating walking away from the forum and having a break from the club as my frame of mind/outlook was scewed, started to wonder if I was developing depression.

I remember seeing our Todd's 1st game jumper presentation with his dad and seeing the love, pride & joy with Todd's father, knowing what they were going through with the loss of a mother/wife, I became extremely emotional and proud, it was personally heartwarming and bittersweet in knowing I will never share similar feelings again with my late parents.

This young man's tragedy has made me reassess my frame of mind and outlook and ready to talk with a professional, he and his sibling's loss has reminded me that there are others facing greater heartaches and trials, 19yo is far too young to be dealing with these losses.

We're all here for you Todd
