Forgetting Todd Marshall

The amount of head knocks he has had.. he probably forgets about himself as well.

Thought he might of retired.

His health is a concern.
We can't afford to retire him. Think of the breach of salary cap penalties, just like the soft cap tax on sacking Hinkley earlier.

PORT ADELAIDE has secured Todd Marshall until the end of 2029 after the key forward agreed to terms on a long-term contract extension.

Already contracted until the end of 2024, the new five-year extension will see Marshall tied to Port Adelaide well beyond his initial eligibility for free agency.

Marshall said he couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else.

If todd was medically retired in the previous off season
It would be the last 2 years of his contract would fall out of the 3 year period where the AFL gives you some salary cap relief

Call it a hunch but I think if that wasn't case he would be medically retired

?????

If Todd was retired last preseason ie November 2023, before he signed a 5 year deal in February 2024, then our liability would only be his 2024 contract value.

Feel for Todd rotten luck. I'm one of those who thinks he should consider retirement due to the head knocks. This adds salt in the wound. Team wise I didn't have him in our best 22 for this year mainly because of his history of concussions I felt he was a risk and I think we have enough depth in that area now with mitch, Jack, ollie etc. but I wish him all the best on a speedy recovery and what ever the future holds for him hope it's a good one

Well that just sucks dog's balls.

It's a bastard of an injury, that's probably the season gone if he's snapped it.

All the best in your recovery Todd.

Yeah its pretty much season over.

Achilles post surgery take a long time to heal, and given he has had lots of injury due to his light frame, its going to be touch and go if he plays any games this year.

Feel for him personally as this is just another piece of misfortune for him in an increasing pile of such misfortune. But from a team perspective we recruited a pretty well identical player (minus the concussion concerns) this off season so at least theoretically it shouldn't hurt us too much.

Brutal. Just one of those players who is never going to stay fit for long. Despite the focus being on concussions he does seem to pick up other injuries as well.

At least it gives him a season where he won't get hit in the head.

Hopefully Lord or Finlayson can step up because otherwise we're staring down the barrel of an Esava KPF heavy season which is grim.
