I was honestly surprised he didn't retire at the end of the last season with all those head knocks he has gotten. I guess one way to look at this injury if it is the whole season then at least he won't get any concussions for the year. Just hopefully the club and everyone gets around him in supporting him this year to come back stronger.
On a brighter note I think Big Chux content on youtube has improved since he retired

We are all sorry for Todd but his health must come first and I hope he uses the time to think about his future, he is in my opinion 1 concussion away from being told to give it up.
His concussion early in the semi final and him going off would have cost us that final we got lucky in the end
And I felt that should have been it for him. All the best for his recovery

Todd signed that five year contract at the beginning of 2024 .
I appreciate it depends on the contract terms but does anyone know in general how the contract payments fare in the case of long term injury absences?
Does the AFL assist the Club with payments as part of a workers comp type scheme for players?
Edit: The answer was here in this very thread by It Just Is after the concussion issue resurfaced at the end of last year.
We are on the hook for a portion and anything beyond 3 years:

Although his extended absence for (probably) all of 2025 is not concussion related I'm sure the previous concussion incidents will be foremost in Todd and Port's thinking when it comes to the future of his contract.

The only positive is thank god its not another head knock. Hope he spends the year recovering but also has a good long think about whether the sport is still for him.
