I don't think SPP is made for official leadership and that's fine. He can be vice captain maybe. He's already a spiritual leader and leading by example.

I disagree, I think picking spuds who look like "official leaders" like Jonas has proven to get us nowhere. It's time to shake things up

Not sure he has the media savvy to be the captain, and possibly would not want to be. But a vice captain for sure. I mean, you would take almost anyone over the current Jonas/DBJ regime. Would have to be the worst C/VC duo in club history.

I think the problem is there is no one in this group that screams captain yet, unless you give it to a Rozee who may be too inexperienced for it

Connor is 24 next year, should have played 100 games by then. I'd give it to Connor, with SPP & Burton/Houston as VC's.
Yep if Rozee backs it up this year he should be ready. 6th year for him vs Boak who took it on in his 7th, but he's achieved a lot more than Boak had to this point.

Syncing it with a new coach helped Boak make a mark too, so should be good timing.

I don’t think it’s just my Hinkley bias kicking in, but I'm not sure that much of Sam's improvement is down to Ken. It’s not just Sam's football that has improved, it’s his whole life, and I really think that is just a result of Sam growing up and deciding what’s important to him and working hard to be the best he can be both in and out of football. I don’t know how much of that is Ken's influence or because of other people, maybe Boak, obviously his partner, close friendship with the Finlayson's etc.

Jonas is a joke in the media anyway lets get that out there.
I would love to be as sure of winning X-Lotto as I am that Jonas will read the tea leaves and retire when kern is no longer coach, even he should be smart enough to work out he is no longer good enough to survive the cut under any new coach who is serious about improving the team.

No brainer, Rozee will be captain next year regardless of who the Coach is.

I wouldnt be putting it as a slam dunk. I think the captaincy has passed Ollie but Rozee might be a bit young at 24. I'd be looking at someone like Burton.

It's a real issue the club has though, not enough clear cut genuine leaders on the list.

Another reason I was annoyed about the retention of the current leadership group. A captain on his last legs, DBJ who is clinging to the side based on a couple of years form and Ollie who should be next captain.

But where are the younger players being given a chance to show leadership? Rozee, Marshall, SPP, Burton for example?

Next captain has to come from Wines, Houston, Burton or Rozee. SPP is a 'spiritual' leader but I'm not sure he is the kind of person that would want to deal with all the off-field stuff that comes with it, and public speaking is honestly just not one of his strengths. There's no shame in that, he's just not 100% suited to the role. Leadership group at the club, sure. Not the top job though.
