News reporting it could be an ACL.

Farken terrible news.

Does mean he will probably be offered a 2 year contract and I cant think of any player who has voluntarily left a club mid ACL recovery.

The famous club wrap our arms around and everyone get around an injured player and make him want to stay, has to be activated in full.

I know you can't go through life exploring the could'ves, would'ves and should'ves... still Jed McEntee plays his third game in a row as a dynamic ****ing defensive forward while Mitch possibly definitely does his ACL fixing his goalkicking yips in the Magpies  He won't have a problem kicking for goal for the rest of 2023 now FFS.

I know its stretching the whole 'butterfly flaps it wings' things but honestly some of the ****ing selection horrors that have had me reaching for something sharp during Hinkley's tenure. The only thing McEntee is in the green for is tackles and how many of them stuck?

Georgiades speed and leap is the only thing he has going for him. ACL would absolutely be devestating.
May give him time to rethink his game, as at the moment his one dimension leap on at everything hasn’t really been working.
Devastating for him, but he could make the most out of this to redevelop his game to become the best player he can be.
Like others have said, if it is an ACL you would think it would be very unlikely for him to leave.

That just ****ing sucks.

All the best in your recovery Mitch. Lean on Jake for advice. Robbie Gray will be around too I'm sure.

Hardly. It's not the 1980's. Players make full recoveries from ACLs all the time.
My main concern is that his game relies a lot on his leap. Hopefully he comes back more like Jeremy Howe after he did his and not like Robbie Gray who lost his leap (not in the same class originally of course) and pace after he did his.

Well done Ken you ruined his career playing him in a game he should have been rested in with Marshall out

With Marshall confimed out and 5 days until the Saints game Georgiades should not have played SANFL

I dislike Hinkley as much as anyone else, but this is a garbage post.
Paying reduced minutes is exactly what he needed to be doing to hopefully find a bit of form ahead of an AFL debut.

Two very, very, minor comments.
  1. He will sign a new contract with Port, killing all the trade rumours.
  2. We will get a pick in the mid-season draft
Small beer compared to losing a player for the season, but the same knee tragedy was the making of Robbie.

I feel sorry for him and obviously the injury sucks for him and the club.

But he also struck me as a guy who needed a circuit breaker. I wish the circuit breaker wasn't a year out of the game, but life gives you what it gives you.

Hopefully he comes back with more confidence, a passion to play and a new goal kicking routine.

What's scary about that injury is that it wasn't even the leg he landed on. The ACL appears to have gone on the second step after he landed, as he tries to change direction slightly to the left.

I wondered at the time if the knee was the reason for the piss poor dropped chest mark, but it was totally unrelated, it looks like it happens after the landing.
