This season, he's running under the ball, jumping too early etc. Complete shell of the player he was looking like he could become.

Playing in the SANFL should help him regain some confidence by winning some contests etc.

Ken was more than patient with Georgy (who is one of my favourite players btw) - he simply did not deserve his spot.

This is right. It’s not just his kicking. His marking has dropped off too. I’m ok with him being dropped. It won’t take him long to get back and when he does he will be better.

There is a fair bit of difference between Warren Tredrea and Mitch Georgaides. True Tredders had his problems with accuracy from time to time but after 49 games Tredders had kicked 89:55 mainly as a key forward where he invariably drew the best defender the opposition had. After 49 games Mitch has kicked 65:52 mainly as a floating forward. Tredders had an accuracy rate of around 62% as against Mitch's accuracy rate of 55%. In just his eighth AFL game Tredders took 17 marks and booted 8 goals against Carlton, I reckon if Mitch had a performance like that under his belt he may not have been dropped.

Tredders went on to be Port's leading goalkicker 8 times and if Mitch gets half that tally he will be doing well.

I am not entirely sold on Mitch Georgiades as I feel he has to improve his conversion rate and kick more goals and the SANFL is the place to regain his confidence.

After 59 games Tredrea had kicked 105:83 at a conversion rate of 56% in a season where he kicked 32 goals 35. He was a year older than Mitch when he kicked at that conversion rate of under 50%.

How many key forwards have a breakout game with 17 marks and 8 goals in this day and age? Additionally, Comparing key forwards in 1998 and 2023 is a fallacy, and comparing what Tredders has already done with what you predict 21 yo Mitch is going to do in his future career holds no logic at all. The point was not made that Mitch has to follow Tredrea's path step for step otherwise he should be dropped. The point was made that Tredrea wasn't a great kick for goal as a young key forward, which he wasn't. Demonstrably.

Its a joke for anyone to suggest that the the best place for any young key forward to get over their goalkicking yips and regain confidence is to play deep in the current Port Adelaide magpies.

He was taking more marks this year than last year on average (6 vs 4.7), also more marks inside 50 than last season (3 vs 2.2). He was also taking more marks AND more marks inside 50 on average than any other forward.

That he got dropped to win some contests, get more shots on goal, because he wasn't performing and to gain more confidence is not backed up by the stats.

Or, if he was down on confidence, but still taking the most marks, the most marks inside 50 and the most marks on a lead of any of our forwards, imagine what a ****ing miracle he will be when he plays confident.

Sometimes players re signing contracts does not have any real impact on a trade as players are often traded despite contracts. A club will re sign a player to enhance it's bargaining power around the trade table and a player will re sign to enhance his value at a new club. Mitch might re sign but if another club wants him and if he wants to go and the price on offer is good enough the contract will be torn up. Chad Wingard

We don't all know that. So many on here are adamant that he was a shell of a player compared to last year who was hopelessly out of form in every way which I disagree with and every stat refutes.

His kicking, at goal particularly, was a major issue and letting down the rest of his work. He looked frustrated and deflated when that happened.

Sending him back to the SANFL Magpies to fix his goalkicking yips, and telling all and sundry that it will be good for him, is not that different to Greg Norman's coach sending him back to the amateurs to fix his putting woes under pressure. It's worse because in the Magpies playing as they are a forward playing deep is going to have very limited opportunities to have a putt from the green.

It's not like he was sent back after a couple of down weeks or something. We've persevered with him kicking like dogshit for what ... must be 6 months total now?
