Mitch’s development and Todd’s development are completely different. It was obvious todd just needed time to build up physically, and a bit of belief that would come from games

I’m not sure what the solution to Mitch’s funk is. The ability hasn’t disappeared, it’s there somewhere.

We’ve tried dropping him, and I don’t think there’s any guarantee that trying it again fixes it. But **** we need to figure it out cause it’s really hurting his development.

The main difference I can see this year is that we’re asking him to run up the ground and back a lot more, where in the past we often had him just sit deep with occasional runs up… maybe we revert to just letting him sit deep again for a few games? Who knows.

That our coaches are even tempted to discuss playing him as a defender, wingman or midfielder blows my mind. I don’t care if he has the collective athletic prowess of Usain Bolt, Carl Lewis and Spider-Man, let him settle down playing as a lead up and marking forward. Please don’t **** with that, Port. And don’t accept half-arsed, long distance preseasons again, whatever the threat of the go-home factor is.

his year would still be ok if he hadn't started kicking like the mutant offspring of john butcher and anthony ingerson

Other than the last quarter snap from the boundary against GWS, I can’t remember too many times this year where Mitch converted a difficult shot for goal. The miss yesterday from a tight angle was so typical of his goal kicking for the entire year in that it wasn’t even close.

surely after 10,000 todd marshall posts we realise playing him good or bad till he hits 60-70 games is the way to go with mitch? what does he possibly get out of playing sanfl, other than wanting to head back west.

He definitely needs to be playing AFL, especially now that our season is well and truly gone. Nothing to gain by dropping him at all.

Part of the prob is that I think he is carrying a minor leg upper quad niggle. Saw him strain something at Loxton against Westies and it seem to affect his kicking occasionally. Probably needs a rest to recover properly but they will push thru until we are mathematically impossible, its the Hinkley way.

Some of his leading patterns that I saw yesterday were so messy. Pointing one way, open the other way, yet runs backward away from the ball, defender easily intercepts. He seemed to have no idea what he was doing. I love the guy, but he needs some good help from a decent forwards coach to progress IMO.

And yes our forward entries are 50% to blame ... just awful!

He's been shit all year. Looks lost and his confidence drops by the week. Will be fine once he gets proper coaching, I just hope he sticks around long enough to get this at Port, because the pull of home must be getting quite strong.

I'm not sure him playing AFL actually helps him. He doesn't have issues with ability, he has mind issues and confidence issues.

Has been a liability for the majority of the year.

In the SANFL, I reckon Georgiades' physical ability and athleticism is enough to compensate for other deficiencies.

Rightly or wrongly, he's perceived as unintelligent, but our senior coach is also rightly understood to be a bonafide moron.

Better to keep him in the AFL side, where he might accidentally learn something on his own, than to drop him to the SANFL, where coasting on his other talents means he's less likely to learn anything and more likely to lose confidence.
