Honestly for his role it doesn't get much better than that.Very good again , maybe even his best game and me thinks there’s more to come
He performed all aspects to a huge standard

It’s why a lot of us think Hayes will still make a great AFL ruckman - because he knows the craft of ruckwork as a natural footballer.Goes to show... Good footballers are good footballers.
Smart, footy brain, skillful, good overhead. Sometimes it's all you need rather than testing off the charts.

The way he runs is probably a trick on the eye, he's quick enough to get to the right position and reads the play like a seer.I reckon he is actually quite fast over 5-10m. His opponent rarely gets a clean and free look at the ball.
He looked ridiculously slow when he debuted against Sydney a few years ago but he was cooked.Quite incredible how well he reads the play. He is one of the slowest players I've ever seen on a modern footy field - moves like a slug but his footy smarts and Port's front half playing style minimises the times he is forced to play in open space. Elite user of the footy - so much composure from someone who is so relatively inexperienced. Just last night with 1:20 to go he has the ball in the back 50 and you wouldn't have begrudged him (or anyone in that situation) from kicking it as far down the line to a contest as possible. At the last second though he is able to lower his eyes and hit a 25 metre pass to Ollie Wines on the 50 metre arc to keep possession and further slow down the chaos of the moment, so Port's players could square up down the line and not be outnumbered at the next contest.
Since Schulzenfest is still suspended, I feel it needs to be pointed out that Swan also stiffed the guy he assaulted of his court-mandated payments. He's got that dumpy Dane Swan waddle about him.
I don't believe he's assaulted any members of the general public though.
Just a smart, composed footballer who doesn't put a foot wrong. Worked his way into a starting spot in our deepest position of halfback and has made himself undroppable.
I know saying new recruit is a cliche but who had Williams becoming an elite small/mid defender on their bingo card? Thrilled for him. He always looked like he had some footy smarts, it's excellent to see him follow through and be playing this well.
Id say most people would of had him being delisted at the end of the year, certainly not best 22 in a side thats won 7 straight. Remarkable transformation and effectively a new recruit.I know saying new recruit is a cliche but who had Williams becoming an elite small/mid defender on their bingo card? Thrilled for him. There was a post match interview posted by the club a few weeks back, no fuss type was grateful for his opportunity this year.I’d like to hear him interviewed, seems a bit of a quiet one

With ball in hand, he is just elite! Amazing distributor of the ball, even under pressure he doesnt just blind-kick out of defence which is a Tom Jonas speciality. Honestly, a lot of credit goes to him for our close wins of late. Replace him with Lachie Jones for example, and lose every one of those close one!
I sincerely hope you all appreciate the big effort I have put in to get Dylie up to this level so quickly. I have put hours & hours into it, an my hard work as his buddy is finally paying dividends!
“They said 'You've got one more chance, it's going to be hard but we'll back you in'.”
This is truly one of the all time great Buddy performances. Pick a ruckman next season!
