Player Watch Pick #55 (2021) - Hugh Jackson

Reminds me of Josh Francou, has an uncanny ability to get the ball out of packs, either by handball or with dashing breakaway speed.

Has shown at u18 level that he can get a heap of the footy.

He will complement our young midfield superbly if he continues his current trajectory.

Think Hugh is going to to end up our best mid.

Has a great pre-season forces himself a game round one.
With Teakle gone have you decided to start posting the dumbest possible takes possible about another player?

Good luck to untried fourth round draft pick Hugh Jackson in overtaking the AFLCA MVP next year. No pressure.

I feel like hes the Nigel Lappin/Luke Power of the fab4.
So far he's not even Richard Hadley.

This site would be pretty boring if we only spoke about what had already happened wouldn't it.

I did say end up. Butters didn't achieve too many awards year one.

Someone has to defend Teakle. We move on.

He's shown some good signs that he could play at AFL level, but he'll never go anywhere near being our best mid.

Biggest challenge for him will be his skills, his kicking at times is really bad. At AFL level that'll get exposed badly.

Hopefully he can tidy that up.

There's nothing wrong with our young players. Hinkley needs to justify his selections by throwing our young players under the bus.

Can you imagine how badly we would have been beaten by if we played young players instead of injured players? A lot!

Just imagine it though, because we’ll never let that theory be falsified

Can you imagine how less badly we would have been beaten if Jed McEntee and Darcy Byrne-Jones hadn't played?

They weren't injured you can't blame them.

I blame Hinkley for selecting them.
I blame Hinkley for playing injured players.
I blame Hinkley for player injury mismanagement.
I blame Hinkley for lack of development.
I blame Hinkley for his pathetic continual denigration of our young players.
We would've never seen Lord if two cents Dixon wasn't pretty much an amputee so how in the hell would we know the potential of our young players.
I don't miss many sanfl games. There's plenty of potential and they don't deserve to be spoken about the way Hinkley spoke about them after match.
"Hinkley loves the players." Pig's bum he does.

I'm sensing a theme here

I've read a fair bit about Jackson so was very keen to watch him. Went to our last 2 games against Centrals. Was very disappointed with his performance. Haven't looked at his stats in either game but looked like a reasonable Sanfl level player but lacks weapons to transition to a good Afl player. Early days so I hope those games don't reflect his true ability. I didn't see much to get excited about from many of our Afl listed players & have many doubts about our player development.
