I'd say Shaw is up against it. There aren't many key forwards that go on to make it at AFL level who haven't debuted in their first 3 years.

im surprised by that statement, not sure how howard frampton palmer and austin havent done enough to get you excited in their first year of senior footy, all will have a huge impact in the future of the club going forward. harvey is still one to keep around for a while too.
That person clearly hasnt seen sanfl this year. Palmer Howard Austin and Frampton hzve all played terrific footy this year at times.

Only the preseason but I have read every SANFL report I could find very closely and none give them much hope.no doubt you go to every game and are intimate with the game plan?
Find it hard to see how someone can make a statement like 'I reckon they show nothing' without actually watching them play.

I gues your refering to Tredrea then. Freo are 1 in 20 because of Pav. Clive Waterhouse doesn't count!
You recruited Modra. We got Schulz who isnt in the Mod's class but averaging 2.4 goals/game over 6 seasons is similar to Mod's 3 goals per game over 3 seasons. At least Mod's helped develop a young Pav even though he was played down back those couple of years they had together.

How was Warren Tredrea.Steven Kernahan or Wayne Carey doing at 22.
These blokes haven't even shown enough promise that they would have quarter the ability of those other blokes.
Going on that logic about 80% of the competitions young forwards are all spuds.. apart from stand out absolute gun forward kids that all get snapped up early in the draft it's all about development and sticking fat.

So you haven't seen Harvey or Shaw play a single game this season, and you're writing them off based on preseason games that happened fully half of Harvey's career ago?

I mean why post at all if you're just going to post absolute garbage based on nothing?

Then you say that they don't match the form of 3 hall of famers at this stage of their career, so they'll never make it? Do you know how many tall forwards over the past 20 years are in that class? Maybe 7-10.

You are at Robert Walls levels of separation between your actual footy knowledge and how much you think you know. You're the worst poster on this board.

I still shake my head thinking about Waterhouse

but he did have impressive shoulders!

Saw clive at the last home game still looks in good nick

Not sure if anyone watched the 7 news about the job layoffs in the mines a few days ago, could have sworn they interviewed marty leslie at the airport. anyone know if he works in the mines?

He was a guest speaker at the Port Club last Friday. I seem to recall that he works for a company that deals with the mines.

Modra booted 70 goals in 1999 and 53 in 2000. Funny that Pav Was AA in 2002 as a defender. Still shocked when Richmond gave away Schulz for literally nothing. 1 year prior the tigers wanted a 1st round pick for him.

Fremantle for a 2nd rounder?
So throw away 3 years of work put into Shaw for some stringbean kid who might be another 3 years away... yea nah
Shaw won't be worth anything at the moment. Its not because he is bad, it's that he has played no AFL games. If Shaw wanted to go back home, Freo would offer him games. Eagles already got Darling and Kennedy. Had Shaw got 20-30 AFL games under the belt, he would be worth a bit.

Exactly so if our staff rate him there's no point trading him for bugger all.

Why would Freo be that keen anyway?

Pretty basic - Pav just about finished, he is a WA boy, will come cheaply, someone else has spent the $$$ developing him for 3 years.

lol, Shaw has barely managed 20-30 SANFL league games in his 3 years at Port.

Agreed, he is clearly injury prone, plus you could probably count his good sanfl games on the fingers of one hand.
I doubt freo would offer any more than a 3rd rounder or a fringe player for him, so it may be better to keep him on the list for one more season.

The problem with that scenario is, if he doesn't crack it next year he quite possibly won't be worth anything.

As stated.... Freo are linked with every tall forward like McCarthy, Hogan and even Black from North. Were actually thinking of trading our 1st or 2nd round pick for Jetta. Also I am not keen on seeing Freo trade future 1st round picks. Also if Shaw wanted out, Port can't do much, be just like Josh Carr in 2008.
