Analysis Pick Mitch Harvey now, not in 2017!!

i think it would be great to see Harvey given a 3 match block to see what he can do. Maybe Drop Lobbe for Harvey and if he's not doing anything you can sub him off or switch him into the ruck for the last quarter

Port won't give up Schulz for Nothing. Freo are hesitant on giving up 1st round picks. Someone on the Freo board suggested a 1st round pick for Schulz and 2nd rounder. not sur if Port would agree to it.

I can't see Freo picking up Schulz if Pav goes on another year.......and Pav is playing well enough to go on.

Carr's time at Port is as overrated as his time at Freo is underrated.

He cracked a seasonal average of 20+ touches three times in his career and all came after leaving Port (2005, 2006, 2007). Only cracked 30+ disposals four times in his career. All of them at Freo.

You could argue he improved his numbers with the greater responsibility of being in a thinner, lesser team, but as an individual he enjoyed his best years in purple.

His 02 & 03 were as good if not better than all his Freo years except 06. His 03 especially was excellent.

If Schulz decides he wants to leave then you'd do that deal every time imo.

So you would be happy to lose Schulz + pick 25 for pick 18?

Yes. If it means having the ability to keep our first round pick whilst also possibly attracting Dixon with pick 16-18. Absolutely.

He was critical to us in 2004 - our form suffered massively when he missed those weeks in early in the season.

No doubt, I'm just saying there's a popular mythology around Carr that he was something of a star at Port (overrated) and a disappointment at Freo (underrated).

He was a good player for both clubs with Freo enjoying the bulk of his peak. Which is a shame because with Roger's knee falling apart in 2005 the opportunity was there for him to step up in a system he knew like the back of his hand.

And you think gold coast would accept that trade? I don't.

Gold Coast have Tom Lynch and Sam Day. They can afford to accept real value unders on Dixon if it means shedding what they'd otherwise be forced to pay him under the cap - just as we'll be doing with Schulz.

If we are attracting him with a later pick like that then there should be no reason why we cant get him by trading next years first round pick.

I like jumping up the order, but 7-8 spots for Schulz isn't enough.

Woooooooould
On trade that Freo first rounder for Dixon and keep pick 7
We won't get a first rounder for Schulz.
That would mean technically giving away Schulz + pick 25 (at this stage) for pick 18 (at this stage). Not sure if upgrading 7 spots in the draft is worth Schulz. That being said I can see the onward gold coast trade for Dixon and port being able to keep pick 7 but I reckon gc won't be so happy with just pick 18.
Gold coast will demand pick 7 off Port. Brisbane is the big Bull in the Room and they might be crazy enough to offer pick 1. I would advise Port to lock up Vossy during trade week.

Schulz won't leave. We won't trade him. As sure as the sun rises in the morning. Invaluable for newbies. And a good guy. Culture.

Lobbe out. Harvey in. Ryder rucks with cutouts from the usual plus Harvey to help him get involved.

A good time to do this.

Totally agree...Can't see Gold Coast being happy with a pick in the mid-late teens!

Serious question, How many years does Schulz have left? His body can break down next season. Then again he can have 3-4 good seasons.
How he's played all games the last few seasons is beyond me. How often does a KPF play to 33-34 at a high enough standard? The most elite, maybe. Schulz has already declined somewhat this year.

Shit yeah, I'm with my buddy

I couldn't agree more, I have seen the bloke in the sanfl numerous times now, and I'm f***** if I can work out why some posters rate him so highly.

Based off his 2nd half of 2014. Was awesome.

Schache is blue chip - no chance of Brissy putting pick 1 on the table for Dixon.

I reckon 2 decent seasons and 1 more of diminished returns, if played in the correct role, something we've struggled to do with him this year.

Treat him like a Riewoldt, and have him in ice during the weeks, only really training hard in the pre-season.

He has a great opportunity to impress against Glenelg tomorrow night.

With a midfield 4 of Lobbe, Moore, A.Young and Summerton, the ball should be coming his way.
