Players that were overlooked in the National Draft

Correct we move Newman onto the vetrans list (so becomes rookie essentially) and we have a pick which will be used on McCarthy.

Will be one of the better rookie drafts I would think.

The biggest hilarity is Waldhuter.

Just about every "Bigfooty draft experts" put him in the first round of their mocks as soon as the AFL released some footage. How many actually watch these players.

yep i thought he would be a good fit for Freo bit of grunt good disposer etc....watched his footage very closely..... but they have taken a different tack altogether im amazed actually he was not taken

2011:
Port - Not in the PSD
Freo - John Anthony

2010:
Port - Scott Harding
Freo - Adam McPhee

2009:
Port - Josh Carr
Freo - Not in the PSD

2008:
Port - Not in the PSD
Freo - Joshua Head

2007:
Port - Adam Cockshell
Freo - Not in the PSD

2006:
Port - Matt Thomas
Freo - Not in the PSD

Think that probably explains things haha.

You forgot Michael Barlow for starters.

probably 20 good talents that have probably been rated at somepoint in somones mock in the top 50. Than you have all the mature aged types and those speculative picks, who wernt expected to go in the national draft, but considered more as rookies.

Makes me think that Fletcher Roberts and Clarke (SA) were just throw offs said to Emma Q and co as being interested in those players because she said a few clubs would consider them top 30 or so.

Im with you.. Really excited about the rookie draft.

Working on a rookie draft already? Pretty certain GWS don't have the first 5 selections? is just GWS - 1, GCS - 2, Adelaide - 3 or whatever..

Edited: 2012 rookie draft is a normal one hence GWS have no extra selections.

(i forgot that the AFL calls the drafts 2011 National Draft but 2012 Rookie Draft)

To be fair on the bigfooty draft experts they have been right in the past when the recruiters got it wrong.

I seem to remember Swallow and Deboer rated allot higher on this board than the recruiters had them.

just thought i'd get the ball rolling with a few possible rookie picks for the eagles if other teams dont jump in.

alroy gilligan
kyal horsley
myles bolger
shane nelson
medhurst

who do you think your club is targetting?

The three biggest suprises for me were bosely, nelson and frost

Still plenty of talent left in the rookie draft. I expect the dons to go after bolger, and hopefully we can snare any of murphy, bosely, nelson, frost, dobosz and maybe even manson!

Hmm.
I hope they are targetting a crumber or two, an outside X factor mid, as well as a ruck & a tall back project (Gilligan & Bolger would come into it, so would Gibson Turner)

I think they will target half a dozen mid-sized flankers/midfielders with clean hands & good tanks! That's all we draft now! Building a crowbots list!

Tom Rockliff and Dan Hanneberry were two "I can't believe they were not taken in the ND" picks that have gone on to great things. Would be good to do a thread of BF Hits vs Recruiter misses.
