Have you listened to a podcast called The Rest is History? They have a series about America in 1968. It’s where I first started researching LBJ and the policies he stood for. It’s really great stuff, inspiring.

Thanks, will check it out.

PS my answer was tongue in cheek. I don’t actually know what concrete measures the Dems have done to attract the religious vote.

(Personally I think US politics needs to get the religious element out of politics, but that’s obviously a massive task and a separate issue.)

The New York Court of Appeals has denied a motion filed by President-elect Trump to stay the Jan. 10 sentencing in the New York v. Trump case.

Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in the Manhattan case last May. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office worked to prove that Trump falsified business records to conceal a $130,000 payment to former pr0n star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election to quiet her claims of an alleged affair with Trump in 2006.

New York Judge Juan Merchan set Trump's sentencing date in the case earlier this month, ahead of his inauguration as president on Jan. 20. The former and upcoming president had requested the verdict in the case be vacated based on the Supreme Court's presidential immunity decision last year, which was denied by Merchan.

Trump is waiting for Scotus to save him

I'm not sure why he cares, it's already been said he won't face any fine or gaol time.

So just to recap;

❌Lowering the cost of groceries
❌Ending the war in Ukraine on day one
❌Cutting the federal bureaucracy by 2 trillion
❌Destroying "big tech"
❌Avoiding wars
❌Ending immigration
✅Stalking Greenland
✅Lusting over Canada
✅Obsessed with Panama
✅More immigration
✅Snubbed by George W

So he's got nothing to lose in his second term as President. He and his family and friends are going to be lining their pockets.
They've lined their pockets, this term is about making sure there are gold statues of him on every street corner.

As with most things.

The Dems try to keep religion out of politics, as the founders intended. The Conservatives scream about the founders and then massively-re-interpret what the founders said to suit them putting religion waaayyyy into politics.

The Dems lose out because the Conservatives are willing to be massively hypocritical for personal benefit (nothing more Christian than that, these days).

I think this term will be next level, as mentioned earlier it will be like the rise of the oligarchs in Russia with the fall of the USSR.
It's going to be gangbusters for rich people, the likes of which we have never seen. For poor people, probably very bad, more homeless people, more malnutrition, worse health and education. But those things have mostly long-lasting and long-term impacts which aren't immediate.

I don't think it'll be statues on every corner, but their bank accounts will be stuffed full.

The interesting thing over the next 2 weeks is, after the inauguration ceremony, it's much harder for people to donate money to Trump. Up until now, they could donate to his election campaign or inauguration fund as overt bribery.

But as soon as he's sworn in, it's much harder. Last time he just announced his next election campaign the day after being elected, so money started rolling in immediately.

So the interesting thing will be who they announce the new campaign is for. OR, they will launch a Trump SuperPAC with no specific nominee with themselves as directors. Imagine saying Hunter Biden is corrupt as a reason to vote for the Trump Corruption Machine.

Honestly, he will just announce a fundraising effort for the mid-terms almost immediately where he will siphon funds as a spotter's fee. He will try to maintain the 'kiss the ring' methodology for primaries for candidates - though GOP leadership will wean themselves off him as quickly as they can to position someone for 2028.
