How much more lacking in authenticity can Shorten look by wearing a brand new Akubra when visiting aboriginal settlements in the NT.

There'd be quite an entertaining top 10 of most awkward looking politicians

Anything to do with farming, wearing hard hats at factories, Johnny's Aussie tracky dacks, trying to look casual at a pub with brand new jeans that have a crease ironed down the middle, in camouflaged fatigues when visiting the army guys etc

Sorry, but John Howard and his little track suits was dinky di genuine. The man loved Australian sport and was a tragic.

Looking forward to Turnbull stuffing up the name of our Soccer players with the World Cup, like Abbott did with “Mike” Jedinak.

Barnaby complaining about invasion of privacy on a city street... yet happy to be paid $150K to deliver a crappy interview.

The $150K should be paying for your bi-election.

Now he is on mental health leave.

Spare me, you brought all of this on yourself & sucking every last cent from the taxpayer with absolutely lack of mortality or decency.

Told us all the reasons why it shouldn’t go ahead but didn’t say his position was it shouldn’t go ahead
Exactly. All he is doing tonight is blaming & motherhood statements but refuses to state his actual policy. He is a man of no substance

Someone needs to ask Shorten about what the State Labor government did about the high unemployment in Elizabeth.
Plenty of good questions he is finding difficult to answer. This guy just has no substance.

Paul Keating would be disgusted.

You're taking the piss obviously..:thumbsu:

Labor heartland.
No, they actually asked quality questions, many on socio-economic difficulties & Shorten had no substantive answers. When pressed by Tony Jones on simple yes/no, he still refused to answer clearly. Was deliberately vague & did his best to distract by blaming the Libs, rather than offsetting any solution.

He was pathetic imo as has no vision.

His vision is to keep his nose clean, don't get bogged down and forced into yes/no answers and hope that the Coalition lose the next election. Not sure the strategy would be vastly different if roles were reversed.

His face when the small business owner asked the question was priceless.

You could see old Union boss Bill start to come up and wanted to tell the boss to shove it, but he kept it in check.

And how was old union rep mate Charlie from Holden’s. Asked about getting a job and his pride back.

Bills response? Apprenticeships.

Yep Charlie, go get an apprenticeship with a bunch of teenagers earning less than you get on the dole. I’m sure that’ll do wonders for your pride.

A smart leader can think on his feet.

He was outclassed by vulnerable people who would mostly be Labor supporters & just wanted honest answers as to how he can help.

Couldn't have been less impressive if he tried.

Bicks - you should really watch on iview, as it confirms what we have been discussing.

Did laugh at him trying to say the answer to the problems in Elizabeth is investing is investing in renewable energy. I think that’s caused enough trouble for now.

Also Tony Jones was surprisingly good. Had to step in when Bill was trying to talk away unemployment as no big thing that it’s 33% in the northern suburbs.

Whens the next election?
Last one was 2nd July 2016, so the next one is due around the same time next year. Unfortunately, the date is still subject to the whims of the Government of the day, who invariably choose to go at a time which is most conducive to their chances of winning.

Fixed terms need to be introduced ASAP (I'm in favour of 3 years, not 4, because I like having the ability to remove bad governments as early as possible).
