Is...Is Kenny turning a corner?
The best we can hope for is that this boundary line thing is step one in a planned handover to Carr.

Is...Is Kenny turning a corner?
I can understand the modern day resistance to a tap ruck, but the other options just aren't doing anything. Teakle is lost at ground level, doing nothing in the air and is literally allowing the opposition ruck to run riot. Marshall with 159 fantasy points, just crazy stuff, but it's not even just that. It's the dumb decisions he makes all the time, the constant fumbling, the just running under the ball and not impacting anything in the air constantly, which are the killer factors. It's so frustrating when we have a young gun in Hayes that we just refuse to play. For all the traffic cone comments about Hayes, he averages 3 less possessions than Teakle at AFL level. The Hitouts and more importantly hitouts to advantage are not anywhere near as close. Hayes to JHF could really be a thing. Would scare the he'll out of opposition midfield.
[Chad Cornes] Said the Kenny critisism he thinks might have stung the younger boys a bit (and could have made them more determined?)
Lol, it's not dumb. It incredibly obvious. Teakle is no good. He is in the top 5 worst players to play AFL for Port in our AFL era. He can NOT play next week if we are serious. He should be developing his craft at SANFL, not AFL level, he has such a massive, massive amount of developing to do that it isn't funny. Last night was just such an incredibly bad performance it wasn't funny. To win a game with that sort of liability in your team was a fantastic performance by the rest.Teakles shortcomings are things like he drops marks and fumbles, which theoretically can be improved upon and will get better as he plays more games. He has only played like 4 games of AFL football, as a ruckman, and people are writing him off... It's just dumb.
He can clunk the ball and is a decent kick, we've seen that at SANFL level and in short snippets in the AFL. Hopefully he can build up some consistency.
Comparatively, Hayes just can't run. They've worked with him for years to build up his running and he hasn't got there. AFL ruckman need to have a presence around the ground these days. That's why Lycett is on the way out. And without the capacity to run Hayes will not be able to do that for us as well.
The mistake with Hayes was holding on to him for this long, but equally it would be just as big a mistake to dump more time in him if he isn't going to be the guy. It's a sunk cost. Focussing on Teakle is the right move from this position forward.
And if after 20-30 games Teakle still isn't the guy then move onto the next option and so on.
It's very similar to how QBs are treated in the NFL. Give them some time to sink or swim and then rotate on to the next option if it isn't working out.
Wasn’t it delivered to him on that angle? He gets a good run on Bigfooty, but his defending is always a mixed bag. That shot from 60 out on the boundary was a weird choice too.
I'm sure the woman or women he sexually harassed thought he was a weird creepy bloke too.Thanks.
Lyon is very droll in the pressers, weird dude.
Please, for love of Christ, keep jonas out next week.I thought Williams was great again tonight. Just so composed for a 5 game player. Took a few really important marks, gathered the ball cleanly and generally uses it well. His pass to Drew in the centre that ended with a goal to us was particularly good. Had 17 disposals with 532m gained and 9 rebound 50’s.
Hopefully has done enough to not get dropped unfairly again for Jonas.
So you, in all your wisdom, have written him off after 3 and a half games. When across the history of Australian Rules Football we have seen numerous players take many games and multiple years to become good or great players. Especially so for tall players.Lol, it's not dumb. It incredibly obvious. Teakle is no good. He is in the top 5 worst players to play AFL for Port in our AFL era. It was actually good to see Dixon keep it in ans use the anger for good instead of 50m penalties. Is that the one Lyon was babbling about? Where Dixon should have been paid the free in the first place and that's why he was glaring at the umpire?
You should know better, we are not entitled to any free kick. They have to be exaggeratedly earntIs that the one Lyon was babbling about? Where Dixon should have been paid the free in the first place and that's why he was glaring at the umpire?
Williams is an upgrade on Farrell in every single possible metric you could measure a footballer by

I love Dixon in the twilight of his career. Angry, willing to throw his body about when it is hurting and never giving up on a chase out of the backline. He is always about the team.It was actually good to see Dixon keep it in ans use the anger for good instead of 50m penalties.

In fact, our Dylan Williams fits neatly in that category. Looked nowhere near it in his first game and now looks every bit of an AFL player. And is now rightly receiving the plaudits.
It's just a stupid conclusion to come to at this point in his career with such little evidence. Imagine all the players that would've been lost if you were in charge of list management...
I can't be bothered replying to the whole of this long illogical rant but you clearly don't watch much NFL if you think development solely happens in the college system.1.” Dropped marks and fumbles which can be improved “
- very rarely does this happen. Especially out of nowhere when they’re this far off. Literally nothing about his marking is close. Can’t read the ball, doesn’t know where to position. Doesn’t know how to use his body. Some of the worst hands you will see.
2. “He can clunk the ball”
No he can’t. He’s literally never shown any ability to do that. He hasn’t taken a contested mark in his 2 games this year. Marking definitely was not his strong suit at the magpies either
3. “And is a decent kick”
No. That turnover where he kicked it straight down an opponents throat under no pressure was one of the worst turnovers I’ve ever seen. He’s one of the worst kicks in our side. He just can’t be trusted.
4. “Hayes can’t run”
Maybe, but that poster here who tried to burn Hayes by posting stats showed the stats said Hayes was getting to as many ruck contests as lycett, who for all his shitness is as fit a ruck as any. So Hayes can get around the ground tp where we need him fine.
5. “Afl ruckman need to have presence around the ground”
Where is that in the rules? We won as many games with Hayes as we have with any other ruck.
There isn’t enough A grade tap rucks who are also great around the ground to go around… so clubs settle for what they can get.
The idea that tap rucks who don’t get useless 20d a game aren’t any good is a furphy peddled by fools.
If disposals mattered more than ruck impact why not play boak as ruck?
6. Your qb comment shows you have zero idea about the difference between nfl and afl.
The nfl is a free agency league that doesn’t develop players. College is for developing players. They can turf a qb every 2/3 years because every year there’s 5-15 other poor to bog average to decent qbs available as free agents, several available for trade and half a dozen grown ass adults in the draft that have played 2-4 years in a college system.
Those players showed signs and have high end traits but lacking in other areas.
Williams is a great example. He has always had high end elite traits but fitness has been an issue and didn’t find enough of it as a forward. Moved back and those issues weren’t issues anymore and those high end traits are flourishing
It’s not at all like teakle, how has shown exactly zero high end traits.
He’s got some athleticism and that’s it, and that’s so common that park footballers galore would be littered with similar.
