Reading the main board has triggered me on this issue and maybe TeeKray can give some clarity here, but how in the blue hell does WA3 keep coming up as a serious candidate for expansion?

Seriously? If a team's viability is based on West Coasts waiting lists for memberships then it's just not viable.

Agree 110%.

A 3rd team would get almost no support.

Would have to be from that Perth suburb called Innaloo.

The Innaloo Football Club. ..... Became a member, at your convenience.

Unpopular opinion here (and genuinely unpopular, not i wOuLd hAvE tObY gReEn aT pOrT iN a hEaRtBeAt:tm: unpopular

I think it's worth considering.

>By 2030 Perth is projected to have doubled in population since Fremantle entered back in the 90s. There are almost 1 million more Perthians than in 1996.
>There's plenty of corporate dollars in WA, being the economic powerhouse of Australia (i.e. a place to dig big holes and print money)
>The West Coast waiting list is relevant, when I lived there for 8 years I knew heaps of casuals who opted for Freo cos they couldn't watch a game at WC. Build it and they will come.
>Finally, it continues to dilute the VFL powerbase.

Really that's what it comes down to for me, anything that reduces the power of the Melbourne bloc is something that is good for Port, and so something I'd get behind.

Hobceston Devils
Greater Greater Western Sydney
North Queensland pigshooters
Gondwanaland 1

If there's one thing I hate it's campaigners coming to work sick. Even if it's not covid, don't do it I don't want to catch your sh*t.
This will probably change a lot, since more people will be able to work remotely.

Talia gone. Lynch gone. Ted probably gone. Mackay still there.
Thankfully their first draft pick this season will be Gary Ablett snr and Wayne Carey all rolled into one, and will kick 150 goals next season.

For me I would like a team in from Tasmania but it does nothing to address that there are still to many teams playing out of Victoria. If we want a truly national competition a reduction in the teams playing out of Victoria has to happen.

I am not saying to necessarily relocate Vic teams, Tasmania deserves it's own stand alone team.

If Port Adelaide attracted the lowly crowds that some Vic teams do they would be talking of tarps and relocations or even winding the club up, (looking at you North)

Also does more teams mean a lower standard of football, with the talent pool spread over more teams, there are a lot of considerations.

Reducing the Vic bias is the first steps for me, by merging or what ever, 10 teams in Vic and 8 interstate is such NOT a national competition.

The favouritism keeps bobbing up, Port have already lost 1 home game this season, Vic is in lockdown with covid, why are we going there to play the dogs, they should have been coming hear, covid free SA.

One advantage of a possible bye between the preliminary final and the grand final is the 12 day concussion protocol. Imagine being forced to miss a grand final - in this instance, you could still play.

The alternatives for the last round are such that I couldn't get them all. So, I will just put down who's in contention for what:

* Last 2 Finals spots: [6]
- GWS, Essendon, WC, Freo, Richmond, Saints.

* Last Top-4 spot: [3]
- Dogs, Lions, Sydney.

* Minor Premiership & Top-2: [3]
- Dees, Cats, Port.
