The reaction of Crow fans when a high profile Victorian re-signs: That feels better than a GF win
The reaction of Port fans when a high profile Victorian re-signs: Oh that's nice. Who are we playing on Saturday.
Their reaction reflects the humiliation for the GF and years of losing good players. As much as many tried to palm it off it has obviously
eaten into their psyche, compounded by our track record. 5yrs probably sealed it but as Sloane said there was a personal aspect
to his decision. For me that was code for a deal promised to his partner, probably via ch7 to be front n centre in the Adelaide
life style scene.
Put one of these :D on your face if your tempted to throw up at their hype at putting a fragile 28/29yr old on a 5yr extension.
Was it Kane who said recently that the crows were on their knees. Maybe they were praying for a miracle that only $ could buy.

Sloane's definitely a gun, but looking at his raw stats for his career best year (last year) it's pretty interesting to see how similar they are to Brad Ebert's over the same period.

Year | GM | KI | MK | HB | DI | DE | GL/BH | TK | RB | IF | CL | CG | FF | FA | CP | UP | 1% | GA | DT
\ 2017 |24|13.08|3.13|11.13|24.21|69%|0.83/0.29|7.79|1.42|4.54|6.33|3.79|2.58|1.54|13.25|11.46|2.92|0.54|105
\ 2017 |23|12.57|3.65|12.17|24.74|68%|0.3/0.35|7.65|1.35|4.39|4.87|3.39|0.65|1.17|10.7|14.04|1.61|0.78|103

They're pretty well exactly the same age and have both been vice-captain. Personally I'd be pretty concerned if Ebert were getting a five year contract extension right now, doubly so if he'd spent the year battling foot injuries.

> Standing ovation for teenage kid who lost both his parents in the span of less than 12 months and has just come back into the side.

> Standing ovation for a player that is playing his Xth game.

> Standing ovation because a player signs a contract.

I'm not saying we 'own' the standing ovation at X minute because it's been done plenty of times before, but carn to the way it has been used by AFL sides since. I can get the one for Kade Simpson somewhat but as if his milestone needed more recognition and media coverage lol. The Carlton fans might as well have been applauding him for doing the extraordinary feat of putting up with their club's shit for 300 games.

Don't even get me started on the Crows one for Sloane, I almost feel offended by that. Do they realise they will essentially be applauding a mutually-agreed upon business transaction? Lol. Would expect nothing less from them though.

Because in the last couple of weeks Port did it for Todd, and Carlton did it for Simpsons 300........... so they have to do it too. I hear they're planning on doing it for David Mackays 200th in a few weeks too :$
David Mackays 200th.

Just taking a minute to let that sink in.

Trust me, I wasn't laughing.

If I was Rosa Mangiarelli, I would be afraid, very afraid. And you're looking a bit old for TV too Jane Doyle. Might be a job at AA with Goodings for you ;)
Happily, any of those things could happen and I would never know.

So Sloane is apparently on $900k a year but "knocked back much bigger offers from Victoria". It has been reported that there are 9 players in the AFL making over a mill. Is a 29 year old Rory Sloane coming off a 10 week foot injury given 5 years a top 9 players in the league? I think not.

Especially given you're held to the cap hit when you acquire a player via free agency.

It doesn't take Columbo to get to the bottom of what's happened since he had the foot injury.

5 years for around $4M so around $800K which is about right as it will be lower than Walker (who is on around $900K), hence it makes what money-bags Lever asking for ridiculous (and Melbourne paid him that amount and gave us 2 first rounders!!!!!), Sloane would have gotten $1.5M from St Kilda or North Melbourne as he is a top 5 player in the AFL and both clubs are desperate to sign a big fish.
But it was reported he knock back a few $100K with re-signing with the Crows which is around $1M which is about right for him for other clubs.

Usually stats don't lie..........and it's the lower end of lisfranc injury (as reported).
