Why is Mark Williams never talked about for these jobs? His record reads better than Lyon's and his presence seems to have also coincided with relatively successful periods at GWS and Richmond. No one seems to make the link between him arriving at Melbourne this year and their improvement.
He doesn't really get the respect he should.
He was one of the first names mentioned for the Collingwood job.

Club's can't handle the full 360 degrees of choco. They only see the difficult stuff, the age, not many get a second chance, the way he left Port, the way he left GWS and that he has clearly made a niche for himself in the development coach role and that in that role, he is limited and controlled what he can do in that role, but the senior coach can still lean on him if he wants to.

Lol probably insulted because they have decided to do due process and interview several candidates. Would hurt his massive ego.

This is usually code for 'The club told me I missed out, I better make it look like it was my decision!'

Still remember having beer (I hope) being tipped on us from Collingwood supporters in the tier above as we watched that losing 2003 prelim against them at the G.

The simple fact is that Eddie McGuire is one of those self important VFL heavyweights that Mick Warner describes in his book, The Boys Club, who are outraged at the fact that lesser mortals from interstate clubs fail to give them the sort of lick spittle respect that they think they deserve.
The only game I have ever been in fear for my life and I used to love a good bar fight but this was next level herd mentality.

Every single Port fan I know that was there that day could tell you several bad experiences.

I’m still thankful we beat them at the G in Round 10 this year otherwise that would have been as bad as the 2003 PF.

What was the basis of the rage? It wasn’t like the game was terribly hot thanks to a classic Choco 01-03 damp September squib?

They thought, they beat us and they have the flag after smacking Brisbane in the QF.

Another McGuire gaff I remember from around 2010ish:

'My wife and I don't feel safe at Football Park. Port supporters are feral.' or some hypocritical BS.

Found it: https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/ns...adium-ng-526e6221de56affae8c579043fb8c88d.amp
This was around the same time when the Collingwood supporters beat the crap out of one of the opposition teams Dad. For the life of me, I cant remember who it was or what team his kid played for but from memory, it was a Victorian team.
