Adelaide should of turned west lakes into something like Hawthorn have at Waverly.

why don't they just stay in West Lakes?
I don't think they were ever actually given the choice. West Lakes is SANFL land. And the SANFL needs to sell it off to fund its future.

Maybe if they hadn't spent 30 years squatting on SANFL land...

To summarise:

‘Freedom of religion’ is fine

Bigotry masquerading as ‘freedom of religion’ should be called out and rightfully scrutinised (no matter the religion)

It's not really about freedom of religion. Nobody is saying Thorburn is prohibited from practising his religion.

The issue here is religious discrimination - ie, is Thorburn being discriminated against on the basis of his religion? I would say the answer to that is yes - you can't separate bigotry and religion so easily because religious scripture (both Christian and Muslim) contains bigotry, particularly towards homosexuals.

My question though would be this - what is wrong with discriminating against someone based on their religious beliefs if those religious beliefs conflict with your organisation's beliefs? Why is that an issue? And that's where I land on this issue as someone who regards himself as a libertarian. I have no issue with him having his views on homosexuality and I have no issue with Essendon being allowed to fire him on that basis, regardless of whether those views are based on religious beliefs or not.

The difference being an Organisation vs an individual.

An organisation and its parts ie Employees, are seperate to its individuals. When an individual breaks rank with those values of an organisation on a professional level then there is an issue.

Anything to do with discrimination because of a "maybe" or "doesn't look good" is a divide and conquer tactic to oppress people, being a liberatarian that would be quite a conflicting place to be.

If you needed any confirmation...

He is another w***er. If he is the football genius that he thinks he is he would be coaching. He doesn’t have the ticker for it. He would much rather sit in his media chair and judge everyone else. Coward.

... I have Muslim friends who drink, I have gay Muslim friends, ..
You have Muslim friends who don't follow the teachings of Islam. That's nice. Similar to my vegan friend who enjoys a nice beef steak.

I went to the pub with a vegetarian mate on the weekend. The pub had a beef rib burger, and his eyes lit up.

Apparently he's only a vegetarian most of the time, and when he falls off the wagon he really makes the most of it.

Do you reckon? I have Jewish friends who call themselves “culturally Jewish” just like my friends who participate in Easter and Christmas but wouldn’t have opened a bible for years (if ever). I don’t think religion is that black and white. Much of it is cultural. And just so we’re clear I don’t think vegans have made it a religion….yet.
