We had a Thurs night QF against Cats in 2020 (1 v 4)
Bris (2) vs Rich (3) was Saturday night in 2019, as you mention.
Last year the 2022 and 2019, the 6v7 game on Thursday. 2v3 Friday.
In 2019 the 5v8 Thurs, 1v4 Friday.
In 2018 the 1v4 Thurs, 5v8 Friday.

The prime slots definitely don't just get reserved for the top 2.

I reckon the 2020 game was probably because we set the tone for the finals with a crowd when no one else could have them.

They usually seem to link the games too, apart from 2020, 1v4 and 5v8 will be played on consecutive days and 2v3, 6v7 as well. To minimise any competitive disadvantage for the next week.

Personally my prediction would be
Thurs - Carlton v Dogs
Fri - Coll v Melb
Sat - Saints v Swans
Sat N - Bris v Port

Gimme a robust definition and demarcation between a minor/major touch that is clearer and easier to interperet than touched/not touched and i'll eat my hat.
Well its like a touched ball after the siren and if it doesn't really affect the flight of the ball it still a score, but if its a punch but maybe still flies through the goals after altering it's trajectory, it's a dead ball, no score.

Goal umpires will be urged to refer every borderline call and be guided by a senior ARC official across the finals series as the league attempts to eradicate blunders in September. For the finals the league will install its best ARC officials who might otherwise only be used for one or two games each weekend. A senior ARC official will have extra communication with the goal umpire through their headset. That official will ensure an extra set of eyes and will urge the goal umpire to hold up play before he or she signals a goal or behind if the ARC believes a decision should be reviewed. Previously only the field umpire could hold up play to suggest a goal umpire refer a decision — not a member of the ARC. It will be the only role of that senior ARC official as the league ensures goal umpires are given as much information as possible.

Definitely. Top four usually get the night games

Will we ever see another 6 foot 6 small foward? onya Mary

Remember circa the 90’s/00’s when any footballer running ahead of the play was deemed to be “cheating out the back”?

That mofo made it an art form worthy of the Louvre.

Unreal.

I remember whenever Jenkins played on Alex Rance he morphed in to Wayne Carey and played like a lead and mark and set shot beast. Then he would revert to form every other week, being the goose.

One exception, obviously.

Lol I thought they were already "urged" to do that, the goal umpire just made a complete hash of it lol. Yeah mate that one's definitely hit the post... Nah no need for a review 👍

Jeez Mary told Jerka ,what's what, lol
Mary sounds like she could be a South Melbourne supporter from back in the dim darks who may have lost the plot, Jerker Jenkins was never my favourite player but he definitely wasn't the worst footballer going around.
He was effective as the 2nd or 3rd tall at the tingles, and when he was used as a conventional full forward in his earlier days with the local blue baggers I reckon he kicked multiple goals on the Maggies then state full back on more than one occasion.

It still makes me chuckle remembering about 10 years back when the AFL released their player ratings schtick, and they had a highlights video and comments from other players on the top 20 or so players in the rankings.

When talking about Marc Murphy, Trent Cotchin - notoriously not a Murphy fan - said in the clip "he's so dangerous because he always forward of the ball"

Shocked me that they let such a massive backhanded compliment through to footage.

All while still looking at footage from a potato cam
