The bye hoodoo was broken this round. After 8 loses the last 3 weeks and a 9th on Thursday night at the Gabba, and 10th when North, as expected lost to the crows, it was the Bulldogs, then Port, then Carlton in the early game and then GWS who got the job done. But 4-10 and it was almost 2-12 says the scheduling has to get better.

There was a boycott of supporters going to the game promoted by members and the WA media this week.

That they maybe miss their team pulling off a huge upset is fitting.

That was only supposed to be for the first quarter, but maybe any subscribers who'd done that found better things to do with their arvo.

With Tasmania coming in as number 19, we're going to have a much larger and diverse sample size of post-bye games for analysis. You have to wonder if it's all between the ears

Melbourne!!!! Yes!!!

Fantastic result for us. A 4 game gap with 8 to go is huge.

We're definitely confirmed as making finals now, but top 4 is now almost a lock.

Purely playing for a top 2 spot in next 4 weeks. The Collingwood and Showdown games are going to be huge.

What's also going under the radar is that the Crows are a legitimate top 4 chance now. Win next week and there's potential we could be facing them in a home QF!
Yes quite amazing with such a win loss points gap between us and them.
Ah well, out of our control.

Fair goal by Kelly. Mot that far behind Houston's effort given the time left in the game and that Melbourne had been in front for a fair amount of time.

If WC get up, it’s a perfect round on results for the crows.

Geelong, Sydney draw, Freo, Richmond, Essendon and Suns all go down

Geez the bottom four of the 8 will be average this year

Adelaide beat us easy and Essendon have got within a kick of us twice. Then you've got the Bulldogs who are very talented and can beat anyone on their day plus Geelong if they ever get it together. There's still some dangerous teams floating around.

Adelaide & Collingwood beat us easily over three months ago a fair bit has changed, we should've been 5 goals up at quarter time last night & we've beaten the Dogs twice.. at some point you'll have to accept we are a healthy chance this year.

Can't say anything these days without getting attacked.

My comments about Adelaide and Essendon were not a criticism of us, they were praising them.

KEY TALKING POINTS

  • The top three look incredibly secure, while theoretically Melbourne’s loss to GWS has opened up the race for the last spot in the top four, but it’s hard to find a team good enough to take fourth from them;
  • The Bulldogs’ win over the Dockers has them the safest of the chasing pack, while we’re still tipping St Kilda to make it despite... gestures wildly at them trailing West Coast at every break;
  • Essendon has slid out of our projected top eight but it’s very tight, and next week’s Bombers-Crows clash at Marvel is a mini-final;
  • Even sitting 10th, Fremantle is now in big trouble given its remaining draw, and Gold Coast (11th) didn’t exactly need that percentage hit;
  • Richmond-Sydney on Thursday night is a mini elimination final, since the six-win teams can pretty much only afford two more losses.
