Some of what was discussed with AFL Commission, was mention by Coaches Association CEO Alistair Nicholson on Whateley's show this morning as well as McRae's discussions with the Coaches Association, work-life balance in coaching, preparing new coaches as well as preparing coaches for life after coaching, Sam Mitchell's health, and more!.

McRae goes overseas to get better, Kenny stays on the lounge.

But why does Ken need to even get better?

When it comes to smothers, players who elects to leave the ground and make “reasonably foreseeable high contact with an opponent that is at least Low Impact” will be deemed to be careless at a minimum, bringing suspension in to play.

Having deemed chase down tackles which result in injury when force is used an “area of concern in 2023” the tribunal guidelines have been amended so that there may now be run-down tackles that are dangerous and which constitute a reportable offence, particularly when “excessive force” is used.

The guidelines for the grading of striking have also been strengthened to increase the onus on players to not commit a strike even when seeking to fend and push their opponent, much like Richmond superstar Dustin Martin’s “don’t argue” fend-offs.

Now where a player intends to forcefully push or fend an opposition player off the ball and the effect is that the player “strikes” their opponent, the strike will usually be graded as intentional rather than careless.

Bush league. Anyone with any sense at all can see that's clearly something you don't do in a ****ing competition like this.

Favoritism from the league to Collingwood? Who would have thought.

Ch 9 news last night - Tom Rehn on the early part of the show ran with a storey that the AFL would run with a rule this year to limit the volume and level of the sound of excessivecwhistling from near the coach's boxes.

The date wasn't April 1st, so I assumed it wasnt a bogus/scam bit of clickbait? Didn't see the end of the sports session, so not sure if true or just a scam?

Typical AFL - never change anything too controversial, just amend some lame, innocuous thing, and hoodwink the supporter base into thinking it's a fantastic, ground breaking initiative.
.
Who discovered whistling near the coaches boxes was too loud in the first place??
Who has seen hundreds of players misinterpret said whistling for the umpires whistling up a free kick?

Will we see supporters en masse purchase whistles for blowing when the ball is in their area?
What if 25,000 supporters were all charged with terrorism acts against the State for such a heinous crime?
Whill there be "whistle cam" at every ground to spot unruly fans?
Will SWAT teams bear down on patrons by abseiling from the roof top at AO and landing v at the supporter's feet, saying "Gotcha" and will we see them frog-marched out of the venue?

I spent a night in jail for whistling at a soccer game.

True story.

One day in the not too distant future it will be a reportable offence to deliberately dislodge an opponent's ear bud/telecommunication device. And any team found to be intercepting/interfering with another team's player telecommunication devices may be docked premiership points.

I hate the high and mighty shit about gambling. GWS need every sponsor they can get. If it is legal and the agencies are throwing out money then take a slice, **** this obsession with needing to be perfect ethically and morally. They're businesses not people. How many other clubs are running pokie machines etc, there's shitloads of hypocrisy in it all.

FWIW, I think gambling ads should be banned, but until they are go for it.

It's especially ridiculous when it's freaking North Melbourne dick swinging over not taking gambling money. I guess it's nice to pretend to be all moralistic when you know that if you don't make enough money the AFL will just step in and give you more anyway. Oh and by the way, the AFL take lots of money from gambling companies so ipso facto you do too.

Things don’t change unless people and organisations do. People having a crack at GWS and this are applying pressure to provoke that change. Should people who against the insidious impacts of gambling sit around and twiddle their thumbs, waiting for magically change to occur?

Mmmh? Why did North have a poke at a financially struggling minnow club, rather than the real culprit leading the gambling pack, AFL House? Lets see? .... Oh that's right, the AFL fund North to the tune of $millions from their revenue - Which INCLUDES gambling revenue!!

I dont disagree with you, but it is hugely hypocritical of North.

It’s not ‘North’ as a monolithic philosophical entity, it’s their social media admin having a lend. It’s not that deep.
