Port and Freo seem to have the most indigenous players the last decade or more. If you're going to have the match, they'd be the two clubs to instantly not pick if common sense was applied. Obviously they don't want to risk any Vic side having too many injuries, so, yeah, give it to one of those second class citizen clubs over the border.

BRS on the other hand went from the dominant club in early World Series baseball, to an afterthought.
In 2002 the Sox decided enough already! Changed major off field personnel, brought in new players. All to no avail. Same old same old
Changed everything they could realistically think of for 2004, but still the club meandered along, despite an array of star players. Yankees again dominant, and Sox still their bitches, going ok in 2nd position,but about 12 games behind NY.
Then a pivotal moment in a 3 game series versus NY. Out of nothing much, an all in brawl erupted. Benches cleared . Blood spilt. Some suspensions. But after looking like being swept again by NY, the Sox climbed off the canvas, and fashioned an incredible win.
Despite this, they still were a bit hit and miss, but then one match they again clawed from the jaws of defeat to win.
Thus started a roll. They roared back to within 3 games of the Yankees by season's end. Won through to the Division final. Lost the first couple of games in typical unfathomable ways, then got thumped 19 to 8 in game 3
Yankees had their hands on the Trophy in game 4, with a lead in the last innings, just needing to close it out.
Slowly, tenaciously and agonisingly, the Sox drew level, finally winning. They had avoided another sweep
They won the next 2 games to level the final at 3 all. Then smacked the Yankees in the decider.
The Curse was finally broken!!!!
They went on to smash their opponents in the World Series finals. They were champions again
Moral is - don't accept that doing nothing different will end up with a different result. If you fail, change things until you find the winning culture and formula.
Inertia and blind faith in the face of incontrovertible facts that tells you otherwise is folly, and you are doomed
Be bold. Be brave. Don't sugar coat failure. Rise to the challenge, and refuse to not be better in every respect until you reach your goals.
