He has said when he came to SA the tactics side of coaching here impressed him as opposed to the VFL all brawn approach at the time, could listen to him all day he's an intelligent hard real football person.
Had massive White line fever. From WA originally. Comes off as intelligent, thoughtful and softly spoken, but did have some proper thuggish qualities judging from the footage I've seen from of his Richmond days, albeit before my time.

So how many times has it been now over the last decade? The 3rd or 4th announcement that Balme will be joining the Crow board. Lol.
If he does, don’t their customers need to vote on it?
His attendance will be via Zoom or Teams Chat anyway.
Why would he want to relocate for the sake of a monthly board meeting.
It’ll be just like Koch 101 airbus.

They have timed their change to coincide with a likely rise up the ladder. They are ticking a lot of boxes right now, from the rebrand, to their Thebarton base, to their recruitment and drafting, removing Ellis from their board (tap on the shoulder style) to getting one if the best football minds in the country.

We look very, very stale in comparison.

To be fair yesterday I got rid of some bread that was purchased before Christmas and we look pretty stale in comparison to that too.

There really is no point in comparing us to any other team at this point. They all drop below us, try things, go past us, have success, drop below us again. We just stay the mediocre course year after year after year after year. Until Hinkley goes there is not one team in the AFL I would less like to support than Port. Even Norf who we laugh at now will go past us as long as ol mate stays at the helm.

New extended family member is a Norf member. Is more excited about the coming season than I am. Good grief.

I think the crows are still pretty shit in most facets, seems to be a Port supporter thing to talk them up to be better than the reality. Would hands down rather our list and our traditional home base is a fair way through major upgrades and they haven't even started yet. We've added new board members too.

The competition is shit though it doesn't take much to shoot up the ladder.

I would say the exact opposite is true.

You're not really getting what is being presented: they are making good decisions and are on a path of improvement.
Improvements to Alberton Oval notwithstanding, we are not. We are stagnant.

We've relied on them making crap decisions over the past decade for us to not fall behind them. This is about to change dramatically unless we start to make some long term strategic decisions to counter their rise.

We've added new board members too.

We've replaced Snowden with Fiacchi. Any improvement here is negligible.
They're effectively about to replace Kate Ellis with Neil Balme, that is a significant upgrade.

The Crows have been run as poorly as us for a long time. If they're adding Balme to their board and actually properly utilise his expertise, they Crows will build well instead of the flopping around in the shallow end they've been doing for the last 7 years.

I agree with Willsy that we're in a much better place, but we certainly won't improve without being able to make hard calls on our club leadership

Every pre season for the last umpteen years most on here predict that they are going to storm past us and leave us for dust yet they haven't made the 8 since 2017, and last year finished bottom 4.

So they've got Balme, that's great, his passion and overall influence at 72 is questionable, but good on them if he can have even a fraction of the influence he has had elsewhere but i'm still scratching my head on all the other good decisions they've made. That new logo that most think looks shit? Getting some mid 20's players from other clubs as if they are in the premiership window now?

If that's all you think it is then you haven't been paying attention.

One of them was a player we were after. Besides, I didn't say they are in a premiership window, I said they're on a path of improvement.

You getting in a flap about it is pretty strange but also on brand for you.

Including a perennially injured player who just happens to injured again. Shit club shit culture.

Just saying you expect the Crows to improve gets the usual suspects in here frothing, it's a shit comp you don't have to improve a hell of a lot to be in the mix for finals. Just calm down.

Yeah, they’ve spent the better part of a decade in neutral, on and off-field, and the clowns who run Port are giddily content to be ‘thereabouts’.

“Nobody expected us to finish in the top 4! smells own seat, unironically

We could’ve not only taken back the city but left them in the dust, yet we’re paralysed with a coach who can barely string a coherent sentence together, and a board and admin teeming with self-satisfied social climbers.

Whenever it does turn and they inevitably go past us as is inevitable given the cyclical nature of the league, what will we have to show for this period of relative ascendancy?

Boak’s 500th game?

Not living in Adelaide anymore has given me a less care about what the Crows are doing or supposedly going to do in the future.
I can understand living in Adelaide it’s a bigger deal but for me they’re just another club.
My main concern is how Port is going to go forward after Hinkley is gone with the same clowns running the club.
