The West Coast Eagles are aware of an incident involving AFL player Liam Ryan in Fremantle on Wednesday evening.
The Club has advised the AFL Integrity Unit. Liam and his partner Evana are safe, and Liam will continue with pre-season training on Friday morning. The Club is working to gather all the information, will support Liam throughout this process and will make no further comment at this time.

Former PwC Australia boss and Carlton chair Luke Sayers is being investigated by the Australian Football League’s integrity unit after a “hack” of his social media which saw a picture of a penis posted online.
Sources indicated the consulting figure, who now runs his own firm Sayers Group, was referred to the AFL’s integrity unit last week with a probe now underway into the incident.
The Australian has repeatedly tried to contact Mr Sayers, who steered PwC for almost eight years left the consulting firm in 2020, since the incident last week.
Mr Sayers said his X, formerly known as Twitter, profile had been hacked after an image of a penis was posted, tagging a female executive at Carlton sponsor Bupa.
The female executive, who does not appear to have used X since 2017, does not follow Mr Sayers on the platform.
The image, which remained online for almost 14 minutes, was addressed by Mr Sayers who told followers his X account had been hacked urging them to “please ignore all posts”.

In a rare move, The Age haven't put this article behind the paywall, so it's out there for all to see...

CARLTON defender Nic Newman's season is over after he suffered a serious knee injury at training on Friday.
The 32-year-old left the track early after hurting his left knee and was sent for further assessment.
Scans confirmed Newman had ruptured his patella tendon in the left knee and the Blues have since ruled him out of the entire season.

We'll have to wait to find out if this is a delberate brain fart by Sayers, or he's an innocent victim.
At this juncture, it's not looking too promising, but time will tell.

Cripes. I assumed it was ‘just’ an ACL.

The patella tendon (Tredrea, O’Meara, Milera) is now the career-killing injury now that they’ve properly figured out how to rescue the snapped achilles tendon.

Nobody has been able to come back from a patella tendon rupture at anywhere near their prior performance/potential.

At 32 its 100% game over.

Sorry to intrude,

Not saying he's coming back from this one because he's getting on in age compared to back then but Newman actually previously ruptured his Patella in his other knee in 2020. Came back and had some fantastic seasons in arguably career best form.

Sports science has come a long way thankfully for many of these athletes.

My hunch is he'll retire, has had aspirations to go into coaching for a long time now and it's a pretty major injury to come back from at 32/33 years old compared to in your 20s. Depends on how we go without him though.
